Cech is leaving on a free and Mourinho can't stop him going anywhere. He is an upgrade on Mignolet and we should be looking at him. If someone becomes available that is better than what you have then you should be looking to get him.

I suspect the player himself won't come.

Whilst it may make sense short term I think most players (& certainly their agents) are savvy enough to know that if they've become a hero of sorts for a club over a long period, then moving to a club those fans hate blows a lot of financial opportunities post playing career.

Whilst it wouldn't really effect a decision in the midst of a career, when it's close to the end of it I think that will have an impact on any decision.

I think he's grown noticeably more cautious and shaky since his head injury. Mignolet is younger and is actually working to be more active and decisive in his area. So while Cech would be a top class back up keeper, he'd hardly be an upgrade for the long term.

When we signed him i don't remember us having to fight off other clubs to get him. Maybe that's just my memory. But three seasons on and he never gets linked with other clubs at all and certainly not any teams that we're competing with. If he knits a team together so well why don't other managers seem interested in him.
I understand the importance of the link player in midfield who can pass, tackle and most importantly of all be available for a pass from a teammate being closed down but i don't think he's even the best at our club at doing that. Lucas has shown this season when he's been available that he has a much greater influence on the team than allen. That's not saying we can't do better than Lucas but in my opinion Allen's not that man. He can do a tidy job at times but the times are few and far between.
