before you all starting panicking, we made our best start of the season in years and have just played two of hardest fixtures in the entire league.
wait 10 before declaring us shit, it's way too early in the season to be making snap judgements about tactics or personnel.

we're still on course for a top 4 place and that was our target at the start of the season*

* with all due respect to the DA

The thing is, I'm not seeing anything to make me positive about the next 10 games or so.
We beat Arsenal and Bolton. Arsenal who got raped against Man U and lost to Blackburn.
Don't even have to bring up Bolton results.

Then we have a draw against Sunderland and two losses.
Sorry for not being that positive.

and? Whats the point in mentioning our points haul from 3 games if we're not going to continue in that vein. Its a meaningless point from spidey in the same way mine was

i said at the time that our arsenal win worried me more than assuaging my negativity. we were pants and the way the mancs battered them showed our victory for what it was. so we also beat bolton... they got beat at home by swansea yesterday... they've been shit. it's really not looking good.

I demand attention! 😉

I just don't have faith that the squad we have has enough top quality or consistency to really bring us where we want to be . Or that it can develop like the club believe it will. I agree the first aim is to get back in the champions league but even if we do that , are we going to replace alot of these guys with top class players ? I'm not sure we will ...and if we don't well who knows when we'll next challenge.

Blah blah blah....positives that positives this. This is the same mentality we have last season and the season before. I thought people changed but some of us still with the same fucking view. Fucking mediocre.

Wait 10 games? Isn;t that what Roy Hodgson said?
[/quote]

doesn't matter who said it it's a good rule of thumb.
if we're still struggling after ten games then by all means bring on the meltdown, I'll probably join you all.

at the start of the season with the purchases we made I said we'd be good enough to challenge for the 4th CL place but propably not the top 3 places and I've seen nothing to change my mind. I thought we dominated stoke but weren't clinical and spurs was just a horrendous day at the office. no need to panic...yet.

I said after the Stoke loss that if we lost to Spurs our start would look poor. I expected us to lose to Spurs but not in the manner we did. We're only 3 points ahead of Arsenal and Tottenham are a point behind with a game in hand. Talk of a title challenge and walking the top 4 were very, VERY premature.

Arsenal away, Stoke away and Spurs away. 3 points. That's 1 point more than we usually get from these fixtures, isn't it? I can't remember the last time we won at these grounds.

Edit - Before winning at the Emirates this season of course!

We've played some good pass and move football but we've been too inconsistent. Our defence was at sea today without a specialist) and we got raped.

After last weeks result I thought we'd get a reaction from the lads but we were poor and well beaten.

We had more time to prepare for the game than Spurs and tactically looked clueless. We don't have an out and out goalscorer. Carroll has failed us and looks a poor buy. Henderson is one fore the future. Adam is a squad player at best.

Suarez, Downing and Enrique are the picks of the bunch.

And the fact that we have 6 new faces in the team which will take time to settle. We'll only get better and better.

that's why I'm being patient, it's going to take time for this team to gel.

I agree with your sentiment Spidey.
But as I have said numerous times we shouldnt be playing all these new players.
Maxi and Spearing should be in ahead of Adam and Henderson. They did NOTHING last year to deserve dropping.
We changed too much too quickly, and it never works.
United had to change the keeper and Jones is in ahead of his time. Their only unforced change is Young IN.
Chelsea Meireles and Mata IN
City Aguero IN
Us - Enrique, Downing, Adam, Henderson. Its too much.
Lucas, Spearing and Maxi should have started the season Kuyt too.
The other mistake was playing all the pish in pre-season.
This team will gel, but it will take a while. There has been good signs.

We made some poor purchases and we made a stupid sale with Meireles.

We still should be better than last year as our squad is a lot better. You'd think the money we spent should get a bit more than just that, but hopefully that'll be enough.

We are weak in several positions still, and considering the money spent on attacking players, there aren't a lot of goals in the side, which is worrying. I don't know exactly what our strongest side is, but we've yet to see it, so that's a bit hopeful.
