I agere. Have this horrible feeling that we're desperatly short in some areas despite paying a lot of money.

We needed a midfielder. Badly.
I'm concerned about our defence. We look very fragile.
The Derby will be massive and I can see us losing.

I remember it being pretty good that season tbh. Weren't Skrtel and Agger being touted for big money moves the following summer?

It was scoring goals that was the problem back then.

We weren't. We were better than we are now, but you have to remember, that followed a near decade of conservative football. Men behind the ball and over protection from the midfield.

Ming isn't good enough, he arguably cost us on all three goals.

It doesn't matter who you play at the back,we'll ship goals because of the set up.

The two Spanish lads are good signings, they're kids and they will make the odd error here and there, it happens.

Lallana would have walked it on our team last year, this season he's looking at an isolated forward, no movement.

Mario isn't suited to us - he holds it up well and his awareness is brilliant. He doesn't get in behind, he waits to lay it off, you wonder why Coutinho has been shit this season. No one is making darting runs across the front, and when we play a ball in, it's usually in the air. Not good enough this season.

I'm starting to think that we're in trouble. Now it's three poor performances in a row.
Or is it that were missing Sturridge?

Both I think - also SG one year older, and the team have not woken up fully to this season. Lucky we are only 5 matches in - but if Chelsea win tomorrow - that means no title challenge this year - end of, no questions. I think we are clearly missing Allen - he is kind of a glue piece to out team in driving us forward, with a bit of pace.

Horrible from start to finish. Everton will fancy their chances of ending their Anfield hoodoo next weekend. Fucked right off.

Every area has massive question marks around it.

Mignolet? Jury's out. Good shop stopper, but doesn't do enough in any of the other aspects.
Defence - it's fucking keystone cops every week with our centrebacks.
Midfield - Gerrard and Lucas have massive question marks over them.
Strikers - Balotelli, can he do it? We've replaced Suarez with him, Lambert and Borini - Sturridge is made of snowflakes.

We don't have anywhere near the quality we had last year, and we've actually regressed. The supposed squad depth we've gained is nowhere near enough. I am seriously doubting whether we can make top 4 again.

I think the jury is in on Mgnolet, hes just not good enough, hes got amazing reflexes which means he can pull off some blinding saves but every other area of his game is lacking, distribution, set pieces, commanding his area, playing with ball at his feet. Hes just not going to be good enough for us.

Similarly I dont think there is a question mark over Gerrard or Lucas I think its clear they have been found out this season, Gerrards legs are gone and I dont think hes gotten over the Chelsea game last season, he actually seems to be getting worse by the week and badly needs to be left out. In order for either of them to function you need to have 2 tireless runners ahead of them and even then its just papering over the cracks they leave. Do we have and promising defensive midfielders coming through the youth team that we could promote?

It should be 3 from Hendo, Can, Allen, Lallana and Coutinho strating from midfield with Gerrard used off the bench to change the game from deep if required. Lucas should be no where near our starting eleven or Bench.

Our Defense will get slightly better...but Lovren doesnt work well with a immobile DM and a keeper that doesnt sweep....that much is obvious. We need to correct that asap. Play skittles and Sakho till we can change the keeper is what i would consider....he can come in later.

Positives - Are

Sterling - Tried his arse off and scored a cracker.
Lallana - Looked very good when he came on. Looking forward to see him get up to speed.
Balloteli - Worked his socks off. Defensively as well which was a pleasant surprise
Borini - Not as shit as I thought. Should never have come off.
Lovren - Waaaay the best of the back 3. Seemed to ignite some fire in his belly after that knock by the hapless Sakho

Erm.... That's about it.

Another positive: Rodgers changed the system after horrific 20 opening minutes and it worked – we got one back and threatened to equalize until the 3rd goal put the game to bed in the 88th minute. Rodgers hasn't quite figured out how to make this machine work, with all the new moving parts and the important old missing parts, but in a critical time he can still push the button and make this thing do something he wants. That's a positive.

Switched off my telly after the 3rd went in. I don't remember when I last gave up before the final whistle.

There wasn't a chance in hell we were scoring in that second half. Terrible performance, and has ruined my weekend.

you could ask what sort of info rodgers was given before the game and how they expected West ham to play . I mean it's a good thing to be able to admit you got it wrong and make the necessary changes early but this is west fucking ham we are talking about , did they really surprise us that much and even still should we not be able to cope with them a little better ?

I think the loss of the title and maybe his last chance of winning it , suarez leaving and captaining a shocking england world cup team has hit him harder than i expected . He mentioned he was going on holiday during the recent international break so i hoped it might let him have a physical and mental breather after jumping back into pre-season without much of a break . Sadly though it doesn't seem to have worked and worse he doesn't look like he has the fight left in him to lift the team when things are down .

It's odd, isn't it? Last season at this stage we seemed shagged out after half time. We don't seem like that this time, but only because we don't seem engaged in the first half. As has been said by others, maybe it's planned for building up stamina as the season progresses, but that doesn't work if we play so badly now we bequeath a points deficit to the fitter team that we become when winter arrives. Last season, from about February onwards, we had three players buzzing around every opponent when he had possession. We're so different now it's bizarre.

But but but ... we were top at Xmas last season !

Just saw the goals now. Ming could have done better on all of them IMHO.
But, like always, it's personal mistakes galore.
Poor marking, poor clearances etc.

Just a comment here on Sakho's mis-directed header for the 3rd which I see he is picking up a lot of stick for. It was a very powerful header away - going fully 20-25m upfield away from goal, if at an angle across the pitch, so it really shouldn't have created a problem. The fact it did was because there was literally no-one (I'm looking at you Stevie) within 10-15m of the ball when Downing picked it up. There was a space the size of an aircraft hangar there which should have had 1-2 Liverpool players in it !

Chasing 2-2 there is always a danger of getting a 3rd in the cunt.

I can't get over how easy we concede. Soft goals all around.

In 2014 we've conceded 35 goals. Chelsea 14.

Course we should. They did the basics, and the problem is, everyone is starting to know what you have to do to us to stop us. You put a quick(ish) player on Gerrard so he gets caught & you hit us on the break.

Rodgers only knows how to play one way, we saw it at Palace and at home against Chelsea, it's his flaw and it's piss easy to exploit. He's not going to make the next step into greatness until he learns how to adjust his thinking. He's great at spotting problems in the system and changing the formation, but he needs to learn how to make his teams difficult to beat.

I wouldn't diss him for yesterday, he played well when he came on, better than that bag of overrated shite Lovren. I don't think Sakho or Skrtel did alot wrong, we got caught outwide alot and they chipped the ball into the 6 yard box, knowing we have an indecisive keeper and that we don't track runners.

I don't agree that he only knows how to play one way. We've shown several times we can change things around pretty quickly.

We can change the system around, flip the triangle, go three at the back. He doesn't know how to play defensively. We couldn't do the backs-to-the-wall job we did at places like the Nou Camp, for instance.

He's said himself, he "won't" play that way. He'll learn the hard way in the Champions League. It's a pity really because I hoped he wasn't as stubborn as Rafa and Houllier.

Still early days though. These results might change his stance.

I hope so, but this blind spot of his is what cost us against the Chavs and Palace at the tail end of last season too. It's a bit worrying now TBH and I hope someone further up the food chain at the club has a word in his shell-like about it.

I think our problems are more deep than Lovren.
He was the 2nd best CB in the league last season. He's now part of a dysfunctional unorganized defensive unit.

...the way they're playing currently anyway. Yes, agreed - in fact some of his saves have covered up for their deficiencies.

Exactly. And it's naive in the extreme if anyone thinks any other keeper won't have HIS confidence shot to pieces behind this back four.

Yep, nail on the head Macca. I think Mignolet is being singled out but for me, the centre halves and Overall system is more culpable.

I am not lallanas biggest fan but surely everyone saw the difference he made. He was, apart from sterling and balotelli, the only who looked like making something happen.

It was a good, positive, move from Rodgers. We lacked intelligence and that substitution improved it. Rodgers didn't get everything wrong yesterday.
