It's a shambles there wasn't a long term plan for it in place afterwards. I remember they sold the Olympics on the concept of 'legacy', although like much of Johnsons proposals it fell completely short and bordered on a lie.

However now we are in the position, surely it's better the stadium generates income, self-sufficient and is utlised? There are countless examples of empty stadiums from Olympics going derelict after costing a fortune. You can argue they should have gotten a better deal and it's given West Ham an unfair advantage. The FA should ensure a fair price is being paid by the club for the opportunity of having a new stadium. They have a bargain.

Unless I'm reading that wrong, City agreed to pay £20m plus £4million a year for a lesser stadium, yet West Ham have had to pay only £15m plus a £2.5million rent despite being a much much wealthier club (at the time), it just further puts into perspective what an absolute embarrassment and insult the deal the LLC agreed is.

Is it? I go past it every day for work and it looks really really nice from the outside, fair play to West Ham, it's still a bowl at the end of the day, but I think it's going to be a much nicer one than Wembley and the Emirates, it's got a bit of character about it.

I'm still reeling from their truly awful 'farewell' ceremony at the Boleyn. But they did very well to get this deal. Idiotic that such a deal was agreed, but they were clever enough to clinch it. Has it still got the race track around the pitch? That's never going to make for a decent atmosphere. But commercially it's an amazing deal.

I don't think jealousy is the right word, I'm very glad we stayed at Anfield and upgraded it, you can't buy that history and atmosphere, however I'm very annoyed that West Ham have basically been given a freebie at tax payer expense, that will effectively double their value and as such their spending power. I keep thinking that the FA should have blocked it or made them pay a fair price, but how is it any different than when the Sheiks bought City? No, the only people to be annoyed at here are the LLDC who've made an absolute embarrassment out of themselves and lost the country tens or even hundreds of millions of pounds over the next century.

I'd never be jealous of a team upping sticks from a place of history and atmosphere for one of these corporate bowls. Remember when every pitch/stand/stadium didn't just look the same. Give me Upton Park, The Dell, Roker Park, the Victoria Ground, The Baseball Ground, Highbury, Maine Road, et al any day over these dreadful wankpits.

Its not green eyed envy, but about tax payers getting a fair deal. Could and would West Ham pay more if asked for the answer is without a doubt yes. Even rent at £7-10m is a bargain for London.

They're going to milk corporate sales too for midweek games. Ground looks great (in my opinion) and the area around the ground is also brilliant. I'll probably go to a couple of games there just to check it out.

I think I said in another thread, that West Ham will be a regular fixture in the top 6 in the near future, why? The deal they cut with the LLC will mean they can spend more on wages and transfer fees, all while keeping overheads down (I think I read somewhere else that deal also includes Heat Light and Power).

The savings are being passed on currently to the fans, which is good news for them. It's interesting how they are starting to market themselves as "West Ham London" and even changed their crest for this season. I seriously fear that they will be competing with us unfortunately very very soon for players as well as position.

There have been rumours of the Chinese sniffing around at least.

Well, that may well happen, but the rebranding and new stadium and clever marketing only gets you far; global brand power is predicated on winning trophies.

Look at Chelsea; horrible West London scum and a slightly more upmarket Millwall.

Chuck a billion quid at them and every Hang-Jun Ching and N'Golo Mwambe wants to wear the replica shirt and "dreams of playing for them".
