I think he's lost a few pound. He didn't look as barrel chested. He was first to everything tonight. He was good against Sunderland but tonight he bossed Toure and Barry out of the game. I was only sat a few rows back and it was mad to see this tiny little dude winning all the challenges against these massive bastards. It was by far his best ever game for us. Long may it continue.

Heh, probably true enough, thought he did well again though getting stuck in and showing good composure on the ball with an eye for a pass.

He looks like a garden gnome, but I've been mildly impressed so far.

Perhaps a touch harsh...

I'm not a big Spearing fan, but he was excellent last night - by miles his best performance in a Liverpool shirt (the effect of having the new kid tag taken from him by Flanagan?). Just because we've been consistently mugged by players putting in these types of performances before....and then doing fuck nothing for 3 months doesn't mean we should get too jaundiced!

I've said all along that Spearing is definitely a Premier leauge player (unlike Welsh, Potter, Hammill, Partridge etc) and he's got the ability and attitude to be a very useful squad player for us BUT I haven't totally ruled out the possibility that he could end up being a regular starter for us.

If his current run in the team continues and he is totally settled then could evolve into the new Sammy Lee.
