i'd be reasonably happy with young, but ironically i think we might have a better chance of signing some of the more glamourous players on keni's list than him, because i just can't see how we'd persuade him to join us over the mancs.

I believe Young is an Arsenal fan so they are his #1 preference with subsequent preference for Man Utd over ourselves.

I've never been overly impressed with Ashley Young. He has talent but, like lots of wingers, drifts in and out of games and lacks a decent final ball.
He plays in a shite Villa team. That was ultra defensive under o'neill and has been laughable since. He's got bags of talent. Maybe not the skill of Neymaaa but goals, set pieces and assists.
I don't doubt he has talent mate. I just doubt his overall commitment and, more importantly, his final ball.
2005-2006 15 Goals 13 Assists Watford
2006-2007 6 Goals 8 Assists Watford - Villa
2007-2008 9 Goals 17 Assists
2008-2009 9 Goals 14 Assists
2009-2010 9 Goals 16 Assists
2010-2011 9 Goals 12 Assists

All in fairly poor teams aiming at Heskey and Carew.
Imagine that in an offensive team aiming at Carroll, Suarez and Kuyt.
I think youre wrong Sunny.........but then i liked Pennant...soooooooo

We could match what Man Utd offer him in terms of salary and he'd be pretty much guaranteed first team football. United have Valencia and Nani. Plus King Kenny's a nicer guy than Fergie 🙂

Carroll would love playing with Young. I really think he would be a great option for us, but we may have left it too late. It's very unlikely he would choose us over United or Arsenal.

Don't get me wrong. I think he's OK but I also think there's better out there. Dirks got better stats than Young.
I dont think United would even go in for him. As you say, they have Nani, Valencia and Park plus they play the nappy head Brazilians out there sometimes and they have Obertan.
Id be suprised if they want him.

Yeh United probably don't need him. But they might want him if we're sniffing around. Plus any player that has us as a third choice doesn't really sit well with me.

I think Young could prove a good buy for the reported 10-12M (as long as we didn't end up getting him as a result of offering massive wages). As doc said however, there is something to be said for players with that extra something special. Of course you need a balanced team (with the emphasis being on team), but you will always need a few special players in the mix and right now we don't have enough of them.
Not for creating he doesnt? No way. Youngs delivery s
is ace.
Plus Dirks one of the best, matching up to him is something to be proud of.
Carroll up front, Suarez buzzing around, Dirk grafting and wee Ashley pinging in bombs.
Im loving that tbh.

The arse won't give him first team football. NAsri, rosicky, arshaving, walcott.
If he's an arse fan and happy with being a bit part player then fair enough, that completely confirms my belief he thinks he's made it. If he comes to us then great, i look like a cunt again

Not a huge fan of Young but he knows the league will link up well and will obviously improve us. I'd rather him to Downing.

I'd like to sign Dzagaeov (Sp?). Young Russian player, plays for CSKA.

I think Roopy is a fan.
We dont know that though. Interspaz rumours a go go.

utd have been consistently linked to young for ages haven't they? true, they've got nani and valencia, but ferguson's practically addicted to signing wingers and strikers he doesn't 'need'. i'd be really surprised if they don't go in for him, and equally surprised if he doesn't end up signing for them.

Yeh he has more assists. His delivery isn't ace though. Dead ball he's alright but crossing whilst moving he's poor at.

As an out-an-out winger I'd go for Hazard.

Sanchez however is probably the most accomplished of the two at this stage.

I wouldn't mind Young one bit either and unlike the above two there'd be no settling in with the Prem issues.

If Kaka somehow should be available I'd desperately want us to buy him. Know he's no real winger but imagine him having his second coming under Kenny alongside Gerrard, Suarez and Carroll.

yeh, difficult to separate those two.

He's only a kid (20) but bags of promise.

I've gone for Young.

At £35 million the Carroll transfer HAS to work.
The best way to do that is to get a winger who knows the league and can play to a big centre forwards strengths. I think Young is the best option as he has played with Carew and Heskey for years. Recently he has been played through the middle and has done well there so if we have injuries or whatever, we can swap the side around.

I've reviewed the situation, and ive decided to go for Neymar.
He scored 42 goals in 60 games last year.
Thats Hench.

Being a star in Holland isn't exactly the sign of approval though.
No, but Suarez and Kuyt haven't done too badly and Affelay is a good player who represents good value if the £10m figure quoted is accurate.
For every Suarez there's a Kezman.
Or conversely for every Kezman, there's a Suarez....
I think its fairly safe to say that players from Holland generally travel well to England
Nistlerooj, Robben, Kuyt, Van der sar, Van Persie, Stam, De Jong etc.
Obviously you are always going to have some that fail, but in comparison to say Italy its almost night and day.

Also, Kesman was sold to Athletico for a similar fee that Chelsea initially paid for him. So there was no major loss there.

perhaps i should have phrased it better, as i knew you weren't arguing

perhaps i'll change it to:

I look at the players in that list and just have to scoff when I compare them to the 21 year old and undisputed best player in the world, Gareth Bale. I didn't think I would see another player grace the pitch like Giggs did but then...

BAM!

Bale bursts onto the scene and football wing-play has been altered forever.
