LFC: 5 - Ronnie, 6 - Jockey, 7 - The King, 8 - Stevie, 9 - Rushie, 10 - Digger, 11 - Macca (the original), 12 - Super Sub.

Non LFC: Buffon, Maldini, Baresi, Big Paul McGrath, Hagi, Stoichkov, Diego, (real) Ronaldo, Zico, Eder, Zizou, Platini, Henry, Bergkamp, Van Basten, etc...
 
A lot of mine are weird. Some of the ones I pictured instantly:

3 Burrows
11 Giggs
12 Aurelio
14 Alonso
16 Keane
17 Arbeloa
24 Sinama-Pongolle

I'm not sure about the major numbers cos it feels like I'm being influenced by the first few posts. 10 was defo Messi though.
 
And I remember him in loads of numbers. 2 as much as 4. But I think I remember Molby in a 9 once. Maybe not I dunno.
 
Actually they can, cos they didn't have fixed numbers then and just wore what was available week to week.

Yeah, back then there was no fixed numbers for a lot of players, so he probably did shift around, at least until he became a consistent starter, but he was predominantly 4. I know this as my default password for years included 4 for that very reason. It was set when i started work for Plessey in 1988 at the height of my man love for him.

Of course now I am cyber-savvy and I don't use the same password for every fucking account ever.
 
Outside of Liverpool I see 4 as Makelele, which is also why I consider 5 & 6 as CB numbers and 4 as a DM. I still struggle to use "double 6" "he's not a 6 etc" although trying to teach myself.
