Anyone on here planning on entering the lottery for World Cup tickets for next summer? The first round lottery starts this week, with those fortunate to win purchase rights able to exercise them in October. Three more lottery and purchase rounds will follow.

I'm hoping on getting the chance to buy tickets to a few matches. Unfortunately, the political situation to the south of me doesn't have me feeling great about attending matches in the States but I'm hoping to get tickets in either Vancouver or Toronto (ideally Canada's first match in Toronto) and then in Mexico City a few days later before returning to either Vancouver or Toronto to wrap things up.

I can see this tournament being fully turned into a Trump-aggrandizement PR event - if so, I’ll probably have to completely ignore it for my own sanity.

Going to matches in Canada is a good idea though.

Yeah, we discussed this among my footy interested friends. If we decide to go it will be to Canada most likely. I suspect we wait until the Euros in the UK though.

Oh, it's going to be an awful Trumpized event but I've wanted to attend a WC since 2006 and this will certainly be my best chance, especially with Saudi Arabia in the upcoming queue.

I know I'll watch anyways, so might as well hold my nose and attend in the other two host countries (one of which is my own).

Real shame that most of the tournament will be held south of the border though.

It's a weird corrupt jolly which I'll no doubt watch if it's on, but it's such an obvious bollocks of a tournament now. Last time it was in Europe was 20 years ago. Once in South America in the meantime. They've all been shite. They all got paid to be held in sportswashing countries and over 30 people ended up in jail because of the bungs they took. That didn't change anything.

The tournaments were still played in the most stupid fucking places to hold a tournament. FIFA is clearly ridiculous, but they don't have to answer to anyone. They do the tour of all the dictators with the largest brown paper bag, this time it lands in the USA. Joke of a show.

It was interesting to me that after the US (FBI) indicted FIFA in 2015, that not long after, the US was picked as the 2026 location.

I'm three hours from Dallas and Houston, so I'll be putting in for tickets -encouraging a few different passport holders in the family to apply 🙂

Some friends from Dublin are coming over. We did Japan in 2002, and this time with the kids. That being said, I don't expect Ireland to qualify (but I was roaring at the TV on Saturday when we equalized)

If I could get tickets to a game in Toronto, pretty much any game, I would consider going as I have pal living an hour south of their,
What is the sus with tickets?
I assume Canadian games will be massively oversubscribed

Went to Germany 2006 and even Qatar 2022, that sounds infinitely more fun than this Trump proposed continent spanning 64 team shit fest potentially. If there is a decent set of games Canada based games is probably most appealing.

Vancouver and Toronto only have a handful of games and none beyond the round of 16 unfortunately.

But should be fantastic nonetheless.

Yeah, always prefer it WC in a smaller country where it’s possible to get around. i guess with the number of teams, it will no longer be the case and continent spanning world cup are the only option or unless it’s in Qatar or Saudi Arabia. It’s not ideal for fans.
