Xabi Xabi la vie

No way would I get Xabi at LFC especially after failing at Real and secondly not sure he would be happy to come to UK with Labour gov and current tax rates. I would imagine Turkey or Saudi maybe fitting for his needs.

Did he really fail though? He wasn't given a full season.

No doubt he'll be talking to both Bayern and ourselves about our summer plans.

Why? He’s been in Spain and Germany with similar tax rates?

i don’t remember the full details but i’m kind of sure barcelona did the reverse to madrid, refusing a guard of honour, in recent history. so meh to mbappes antics even if be should absolutely be following the managers lead.

I think Barcelona gave them an guard of honor in the Supercopa but Yamal stepped out early or something.
Mbappe is in no line to decide these things anyway and he's a monstercunt to deal with anyway so I bet Xabi has a long list of things to why he didnt want to continue.

Have a look at Xabi’s quotes while he left with previous labour gov tax rates, was a man completely out of touch with reality at a time last financial crash.

Player power is a pretty bad and I think he had some issues with Vini too, no?

It was a bad move for him given how he wants to coach but this is still not a good look.

El Clásico in October marked a turning point. Xabi Alonso's team won 2-1 while having their lowest possession of the season at only 31.7%. Before that point Real Madrid were dominating games, holding close to 60% possession and won 12 games, only losing one while scoring 30 goals and allowing 11 in 12 matches. After that match the script flipped. Real Madrid's possession number has dropped to around 57% and in 12 matches played, they've won six, lost three, and drawn three between LaLiga and Champions League. They've allowed opponents to pass around their defensive third with ease, leading to more shots than Thibaut Courtois can keep out of his net.

I don't care whether they're in touch with the working man. I just want my football team to win - that'll do.

He didn’t exactly succeed either. He Was his next level chance and he went in with all eyes open. His first full season was great at Bayer but don’t think his second one was. He has much to prove.
Do you think he would come to us? Not sure we should be either for a number of reasons.

The tax rates are similar across all three countries. If he’s happy working in those two he will be ok here. It’s not he’s short of a few bob and has generational wealth already.

If love Xabi. Get him in or World Cup IMO to see the squad, otherwise he will get a messy pre season period.

No regrets over getting Slot in given he delivered #20 but we can now bring in a manager with his own philosophy and approach.

I don’t see any other option being better than this possibility.

It all matters, he cited originally reasons for leaving LFC was due to the higher tax rate back then. He wasn't short of a few bob back then but that 5% made a difference. But yes, think all aligned now across all 3.

Lets see how he does first. He seems to be highly rated but the results vary quite a lot for his youth sides.

NO WAY JOSE I want Xabi

He had a chance to come to us and rejected us for Bayer Leverkusan, forget him, move on

Give Slot another season, we can not being a Yanited and Chelsea and changing all the time although I really dont like this passive football we play

I can understand that Xabi wanted to stay at Leverkusen for one more season. They had just won the league and were about to compete in the CL.

No thanks to Xabi.

He hasn’t backed up his early promise yet and all in all he’s failed at Real.

Well behind Barca, loses to big teams in the CL and a cup loss to Barca and clearly struggled to adapt his style to egos and expectations of that club.

He needs to go somewhere else and have sustained success first.

Maybe We need to do the same with Slot.

This simply isnt true though. Flick and Xabi had the exact same start to their managerial careers at Barca and Real.

Xabi has the 4th best win percentage of any Real Madrid manager in the 21st century.
So far this season his Real team was 4th for pressed sequences, 2nd for high turnovers forced and 1st for shots from these turnovers. All this with the likes of Vini jr and Mbappe being difficult to manage.
They are top for conceded goals even with all the injuries, so his defensive side of the game has been good.

No way this can been seen as a failure.

If you read all the stuff that happened behind the scenes you'd understand. Perez tried to force people onto his training staff etc.

To be fair. Thay dressing room is toxic.

Vini Jr, Mbappe, Bellingham, Rodrygo.. to name but a few egos.

Its well rumoured that towards the end Ancelotti just let the team do what they wanted and regularly had stars miss a training session or two.

Alonso tried to stop that, plus implement a more pressing system. Which the Real players didn't want.

Am I surprised it ended like this? No.
But to say he failed after half a season when Real are still in the CL and 5 points off the top is hyperbole.

There's absolutely no way you can judge him on the time at Real. You could have thrown Pep or Klopp into that and they would have had the same challenging first few months and the same bust ups with players on work ethic etc.

If anything, the indications are that Xabi had training and work ethic standards that the Real players were'nt up to, which says a lot for him.
