Xabi Xabi la vie

I think now there's a good chance Slot will be here next year, maybe 50% chance. I'm not sure 5th is the only min requirement, but it might be enough if there's good signs in terms of improved results, and getting closer to the top teams, especially with a decent run further in the CL.

Yep but I think unless Utd and Chelsea go on a great run we’d be expecting 4th too.

The roundtable thing they just put out definitely points to this.

Its a Standard Chatered driven event and talk, so anything but a positive direction would have been weird with all three together.
Would be interesting to know when it was filmed. Good to hear Hogan and Hughes talk about our situation though.

Slot needs to finish this season really strong and show development, maybe a trophy, to have any chance of keeping his job.

Wants to play attractive football, cue him waving frantically for the lads to calm things down the last ten against Newcastle when they were having fun.

Just PR spin. I guess he is here til summer.

He changed the 2 in 30 years to 2 in 5 years, again. Someone has been on him for being a negative cunt in his pressers.

I just watched it now, yeah, they all look very aligned and confident in how things are going. Things can change obviously, but I think it's take a big step down in results for Slot to not be in charge next year.

They must show a united front in these type of interviews. Managers are far less secure than management for obvious reasons. They'll be behind him until they are not ... and not showing improvement + failing to make Top 3/4 and CL 1/4s, all whilst looking like we can compete for the PL next season (I don't think 5th would be enough) would likely not be enough.

That said I can't see them ditching him without a top manager already committed to take over. Will Xabi hang around? For us we may be on a promise of a shag behind the bike shed only to see him go off with your worst enemy.

The interview was designed to show that united front. Klopp was a genius for communicating to the supporters either through the standard media or touchline - this sort of thing was not necessary.

Hughes does touch upon the “short term” position the manger finds himself in along with the “medium term” position he himself has to deliver upon.
