So, I know, this is not a new and interesting idea it's just another Football Manager inspired thread, however if posters actually gave it a bit of thought it would be interesting to see different takes on Liverpool FC for the 17/18 season. Who'll stay and who'll you bring in?

The premise is simples, you have to pick a team of 11 starters and 7 subs and you can use whatever preference (i.e. more Danes) you like to 'buy' the exactly right players for your preferred formation and strategy.

As always so we don't end up with a team of Messi's and Neymar's you can only buy players from clubs on par or below us, unless the player you like is a reserve at say Chelsea. No Barca, Bayern or Real players and probably no one from the Manchester clubs as well as the three big London-outfits. Thereabouts. (If you break this premise you better have a good argumentation lined up to get the all clear).

The kitty is in the region of £150M NET which means that whomever you decide to let go from our current squad will add to that purse. Yes, We are spending big, as we want this new-look team of yours to actually bring back the title once again. It's been close to 30 years now, let's bring this motherfucker around and make it happen..

COMMENCE, BRETHREN!!

Hasn't that midfield been tried and tested? You surely can't be happy with how it is atm.

My craziness:

............................................Schmeichel...................................................
Clyne.....................Matip.....................van Dijk..........................Kolasinac
............................................Kessie...........................................................
...............................Wijnaldum...................................................................
Mané..................................Coutinho............................................Forsberg
...............................................Dolberg.......................................................

Squad: Karius, Lovren, Can, Joe Gomez, Milner, Zakaria, Henderson, Lallana, Woodburn, Firmino, Dembele

IN

Kasper Schmeichel - £20M
Virgil van Dijk - £50M
Sead Kolasinac - Free
Franck Kessie - £30M
Denis Zakaria - £20M
Emil Forsberg - £25M
Kasper Dolberg - £30M
Moussa Dembele - £30M

SUM: £205M

OUT

Origi - £25M
Sahko - £20M
Lucas - 10p
Moreno - £5M
Ings - £10M
Ming - £10M
Sturridge - £20M

SUM: £90M and 10p

This squad could not only win the league come next season but also the following five seasons too as well as it should make us very competitive in all Cups as well. JUST LOOK AT THAT SQUAD!!

PS I obv haven't seen much of players like Kessie (CB/DM/CM), Zakaria (DM) and Kolasinac (LB) but it's obvious they are major talents and doing very well in the respective leagues. They all possess key attributes we've missed for some time too.

Isn't this thread a bit likes Rurik's? Anyways, if fantasy prevails then £80m plus on Suarez. The rest on a GK, Klosniac (free), and a winger.

A part of me wouldn't mind spending gazillions on that Donnarumma-kid either, I just don't think he'll leave AC Milan, like, forever.

I posted something similar on the ideal scenario thread. Provided we qualify for CL - Ideal fantasy team for me for next season:

GK - Ward (Call me crazy, but I think he should be given a chance)

LB - Kolasinac (Schalke - Free)
CB - Keane (Burnley - £25m) [Sacrificed the more expensive VVD]
CB - Matip
RB - Clyne

DM - Paredes (Roma - £35-40m)
CM - Gini
CM - Hendo

LW - Coutinho
RW - Mane
CF - Gabigol (Inter - £15-20m)

Squad/Depth Chart
GK - Karius
LB - Sessegnon - (Fulham - Fee rising to £10m) [Still under 21 so not towards the 25]
CB - Gomez [Still under 21 so not towards the 25]
CB - Lovren
RB - Alexander Arnold [Still under 21 so not towards the 25]
CM - Milner
CM - Lallana
CM - Oxlade Chamberlain (Arsenal - £15-20m)
CM - Ejaria
LW - Brandt (Leverkusen - £11m Release clause)
LW/AM - Wilson
LW/FW - Woodburn
RW - Firmino
FW - Dembele - (Celtic version - £30m)
FW - Origi

Expenditure - c.£155m
Income - c.£75m
[Sturridge £20m, Can £20m, Sakho £15m, Ming £8m Moreno £5m, Markovic £5m, Flannagan nominal, Lucas Free]

Net Spend - c.£80m on that squad

Complies with homegrown rules too.

Wait a minute, you said SEVEN subs.. SEVEN!!! I feel betrayed. ha ha.

Origi is worth way more than £15m, will you guys fucking stop under valuing our players. His stats is almost 1 goal every 180 minutes. If klopp wants to sell him it should be £25m.

I think there could be one or two others less than £10m purchased though for the future, the likes of Sessengon etc. I'm well aware I've left Milly off, this was to shoehorn one more transfer in.
My probably only issue with Gabigol (haven't seen much of him admittedly but he seems to know where the goal is) is his physical attributes - as in he's only 1.76 cm. I really hope we go for someone in the 1.85+ area for the striker/forward position and I think Klopp prefers this type in the 4-3-3/5-4-1 formation as well. (Wouldn't Gabigol also be far more expensive than £15M - £20M you reckon)?

Know only very little of Paredes as well, he good?

GK: Donnarumma (Never gonna happen, not even for £50 million), So I'll have to go with Butland.

RB: Clyne
CD: Matip
CD: Christensen (but he belongs to Chelsea). I'll take Tah then.
LD: Kolasinac

DM: Paredes
CM: Leon Goretzka
AM: Coutinho

LWF: Forsberg
RWF: Mané
CF: Lacazette

Subs:
Mignolet or whoever.
Lovren
Diege Demme
Henderson or Wijnaldum
Timo Werner
Max Meyer
Kasper Dolberg

Yeah that £150 million budget ain't covering the shit show we currently have. Anywho, those are the players I'd get.

Hm. You'd continue to play without a recognized striker and also bin Coutinho?

Not sure I agree with that at all mate. We'd lack both creativity AND a clinical finisher in my opinion.

Coutinho will leave - I hope he stays, but I think he goes.

Dembele - the kid from Dortmund - will score goals and create ... Thats two fast as fuck wide men, who move around the pitch non-stop, AND both score & assist frequently.

That being said, I only spent 115 mill, so that would leave me 35 for Dolberg to play in the middle with Firmino.

Better? 🙂

(I know I know, just give me a like luv)

Btw I watched Joe Gomez for England's U21 the other day and he really impressed me. I think he could even push Clyne all the way for a starting berth next season.

Gabigol - Out of favour at Inter, similar to Coutinho situation. There aren't many 1.85m+ strikers around would could fit into our fluid front line. Gabigol could.

I don't profess to watch too much Italian football, but I know we have more chance on Parades than Kessie. That said, this is subject to change and as usual we are probably being used as pawns. I've gone for players we have been 'linked' with recently.

Ha ha..

Dortmund Dembele would be an amazing signing but as with Mané I don't think he's THAT creative. He's fast, smart, direct a goal threat etc., and maybe it would be 'enough' to make us compete I am just vary that we'd miss that creative spark a bit against teams that'll park the bus.

I hear you and I have now upped his value accordingly.
If we clever enough, we can get close to £40m for Sturridge (despite his injury record) if we sell him to the Chinese. No big club in the PL will be after him, so tell him to maximise his earnings and move to China. West Ham are looking to sell Carroll for £32m.

I have a question, why would Dortmund sell to us? Especially one of their most prominent talents?
They obviously have a long term plan in mind.

I seriously think all of us should start thinking smaller.

One player we just have to buy is Forsberg. He'd be absolutely perfect for us.
And if we can get Christensen from Chelsea somehow...damn, that would be perfect.

Coutinho went well so wouldn't mind another 'steal' from that club then. I am however still of the opinion we'd thrive more with a 'bigger' player leading the front even though they are not aplenty.
