Youth coaches join Borrell at City

I wonder if that's simply cos city are offering shitloads more cash, or whether it's something deeper, as we know Rodgers is much more hands on at youth level, perhaps he's putting people's nose out of joint?

It doesn't seem like a good thing regardless of what's behind it. The Academy seemed to finally be producing talent (doesn't matter if they were bought in) - if it ain't broke...

Oh it definitely isn't a good thing, that's for sure.

I just hope Rodgers experience in this area & contacts he may have built up can allay any real negative impact.

I don't mind changes at the academy so long as there's a clear sense of purpose about them. But it worries me that we seem to be a bit dazed about recent departures. McParland was let go and he hasn't yet been replaced - and that's almost eight months ago. So there's been no formal leadership since. Parents need to see a strong, settled and positive place when they talk to the club about their kids. This doesn't look at all good. Our one notable addition is Neil Critchley, who came with quite a decent reputation but after giving a series of interviews about how he wasn't overawed even though he suspected people didn't think he was up to the job, he hasn't exactly looked up to the job. The tip of the coaching pyramid is excellent - Rodgers, then Inglethorpe, are the best we can get. But beneath them it's looking a little soft. I've heard of parents being guided around City's set-up and being genuinely dazzled by everything these days. They're not messing about. We can't match their physical layout but we can match their expertise, and counter the glamour with a sound and nurturing atmosphere. I'm all for Rodgers stamping his own signature on the youth set up - it's a good signature - but he really needs to hurry up now and get the job finished in terms of personnel.

Didn't we poach some people *from* Citeh on the scouting side?

Incidentally, macca, there's a thread on Ayre which could do with input from you.

Liverpool interested in Ajax youth coach Willem Weijs: "England is attractive, but less youth players have a chance to break into the team."

Getting in some Ajax youth coaches would be a good move

interesting to see what city do in the future . i mean are they really going to be patient and give youth a chance or are they going to be like chelsea and just buy the finished product with their vast wealth? . surely that has to be a concern for any young player or academy coach going there . i know they are trying to copy barcelona but we'll see .
