Perhaps this guy can be a Sadio like signing for us? Or is a big fish/small pond type of player?

I'd swap him for Sakho (as I don't believe we have a chance for vDijk).

I will take him no question, even if he looks like a bit of a cunt. He will be excellent for us.

But doesn't he go to the same African tournament as Mane? That's a bitch.

Selfish as fuck, suspect decision making and will be away with Mané every other year for the AFCON's. No thanks.

Tell you what, he's had a great season for club and country but he shouldn't be a target signing...only if all else fails.

He has developed quite a lot this season but he isnt worth the 30 mill they'd want.
If Brandt has gone to Bayern and our other targets arent available either then he might be a target I guess.

Dont care if he's a former Manc. He hardly played there anyway.
If a deal for van Dijk wont happen, maybe we can use Sakho to get Zaha for 10 mill or something.
That would make the deal okay.

Yes, thinking this this morning. He looks ready to develop into a great player. Could easily be a Mane type acquisition.

His defensive side of the game has developed this season aswell. Klopp could probably coach him into a pretty good player for us. He'd give us speed, unpredictablility and chips in with a few goals.

Sakho is worth far more to that team than Zaha is to ours so if we were interested in him, we should be bending them over

Yeh but they know we don't want him and that he's gonna be hard to shift cuz of wages and history.
I agree we should push them hard, but I can't see is having the leverage to bend anyone over

I imagine other prem clubs would be interested, just because hes on loan there , i dont believe theres a clause for first refusal for palace or anything

Does anyone think Klopp will give Sakho a shot next season? We definitely need another centre back. Matip and Lovren tend to pick up knocks and Klavan should be 4th choice at best.

Not a bad idea. I dont think he will be real value for money given what Crystal Palace will ask but we have the Sakho leverage. I am also not sure if the "sexier" German talents will want to join us.

He has pace which we are desperately lacking. I think Klopp can improve him to be a very effective attacker in our setup. The big negative is losing both him and Mane for AFCON can derail our season.

His talent was always evident, but he could never put it together until this season (he turned 24 last November). I can't quite figure out if if he's a team player or not - Palace now are such a defensive team that he always gets to play on the counter, which is easier in a way. Will he make the runs, pass and press the way Klopp will want him to do?

In the end I wouldn't mind him, but if we are going for an ACN-bound player from a nearly relegated Premiership team, I would rather go for Mahrez.

I don't want him anywhere near LFC.

He's not good enough and a run of a few good games doesn't change that.

He's quick and very skilful, and can look incredible in some games, but he's nowhere near Mane's level from a finishing perspective, or consistency.

Mane scored 11 goals for Southampton the season before we bought him. That's only one less than Zaha has scored in his entire career so far.

As said earlier, for the rumoured 30-35 mill they want for him, we can do much better elsewhere.

Why do you say that ?

He's their primary creative outlet imo - Cayabe and Puncheon will try to pull the strings, but they look for him to create stuff. Considering Benteke has also struggled to score goals consistently (more like he was with us than with Villa), he's been the player trying to score/create that 1+ goals a game they get.

But should that be counted against him or should we look at that as him being given the opportunity to feature (as opposed to play a role) in his teams attack - and we should bear in mind he won't get a similar opportunity for us.

They've scored the same amount of goals as United incidentally.

Valid point I guess -
Yah, both teams are rather shite at that department.

He's scored a good goal mid week and grabbed another at the weekend.

Cut the media swarming all over him as the next big thing.

He's been average for the best part of the season.

No thanks.

He was impressive today. Not sure if it is a player playing several standard deviations about his normal level and will revert back to normal soon or if it is the natural progression of a talented player finding his feet in the premier league.

I think he would be very effective in a Klopp system.

I'm always wary of pacey wingers who play for counter-attacking sides. The first thing I look for to determine whether they'd make the step up is the level of technical ability (it feels like the easiest thing for your average fan at home to ascertain).

I've clearly not seen as much of Zaha as you guys but when I have he looks like one of those players that's never fully in control of what he's trying to do.

It's like the pace and (some) skill are there but the speed of thought and ability to execute are not. Take away the space he has at Palace and that's a big problem.

Am I way off base? Has he developed past this point?
