Tbh I don't really rate any of our usual starters as potential captains anyway, although you'd perhaps argue Chamberlain or VVD may change that if they carry on impressing. Milner is a good choice if he plays for personality & experience obv.

I rate the captaincy as important in terms of liaising with the ref. Stevie seemed to have them in awe or impress himself upon them which often helped us, & he was noticeably cooler headed after being given the armband as he knew he couldn't lose his rag as often with the man making decisions.

In those terms Can isn't a great choice, but neither are many on that pitch.
