Emre Can

With Henderson out until February I don't think Emre will be heading to Juve in January.
On a side note I read elsewhere that he has an Italian girlfriend and if true would make the pull of Seria A a bit more understandable

Yep definitely would make the pull more desirable. Who wouldn't like an Italian pull ?

I'd prefer to keep him and eventually either realize his potential or realize a significant profit. That said, he's very hit or miss and I don't think losing him will affect us very much.I

He just looks like he’s going to get markedly slower every season to the point where he’ll only be able to play somewhere like Italy.

He would be beyond stupid to leave a manager like Klopp and a project like LFC just to please his Italian girlfriend. It’s like Shevchenko leaving Milan because his wife was friends with Abramovich’s wife and wanted to leave in London - he really diminished his legacy with that ill-advised decision.

Would it be just his girlfriend though, he's probably no more than a squad player in this Klopp project. Playing time must be a big factor too.

I'll never understand people's objection to players running down contracts or signing pre-contracts with other clubs for when their current one runs out. It's seriously never bothered me for a second, even with Owen and McManaman. It's a business, and it's their job. Has no one on here ever left a job for one they fancy more or get paid more for? Added to that is the fact that there are lots of other footballers looking for a new job with us.

I don’t agree with your premise; there is no indication that Klopp doesn’t value Can or views him as “just a squad player” - he clearly sees potential in him and plays him as much as his rather inconsistent form deserves, maybe even too much. Secondly, there is no guarantee whatsoever that he will get more playing time at Juventus or wherever he’ll end up going. I just don’t see what he hopes to gain by leaving; if he’s really as good as he thinks he is, LFC is a perfect place to establish himself.

So you were pretty okay about it when Mcmanaman went for free?

Yep. Never bothered me. He gave us more than a decade of his life and wanted to move abroad. More money, more success, different culture. Thought it was fine. He was under contract to us, then he wasn't. Why do people think players should manoeuvre their own career specifically to improve their employer's finances?

You can’t bitch about players leaving on a free when we sign players on a free.

Surprise surprise, fans who like a player will make excuses for nearly anything they do...

The issue isn't with the fact he has run down his contract; that is well within his rights. The issue is he is clearly one of the players Klopp was alluding to in his exasperation of players who insisted they wouldn't sign deals until CL qualification was assured. That came and went, and Emre stalled and stalled again.

Imagine the challenge for the backroom staff trying to build some semblance of team spirit and a sense of togetherness, and having this primadonna insist on guaranteed playing time (despite often insipid performances) and CL participation before even thinking of putting pen to paper.

Okay, it's a key part of Jurgens job to manage highly strung egomaniac millionaires, but let's not pretend Can isn't looking like more than a little bit of a cunt here.

Cause I can, I am a football supporter

I disagree with the rest of your posts in this thread but ENTIRELY approve of this one. If we can't have strong emotions that aren't tied to logical consistency, then what the fuck is the point of being a supporter! This is the only area of my life where I can get aggressively aggrieved over trivial shit that I would wholeheartedly endorse were it going the other direction.
