Leicester For The Title?

You could say that Leicester were lucky earlier on in the season, but I think it would be unfair to continue calling them lucky now. They have had a great season and have now built some momentum and form on the back of that earlier luck/favourable conditions.

I don't know whether they can carry it through to the end or not, but I am kind of enjoying them confounding the experts every week - a slip has been predicted for a long time now, but they just keep on going.

I can't see them repeating this next year though, which means if they finish high enough for Champions League qualification then their performance in that competition could harm the Premier League's co-efficient.

I would say that very much of their success, Leicester, is down to excellent scouting. They want team players. They don't want big egos. Ranieri is average handling big ego players but excellent making average players play better than they are. A little bit like Rafa.

That is the reason to why he hasn't been that successful. Leicester fits him perfectly. Ranieri will never be a success at a big club with a lot of big egos. Look at the players Rafa signed for us. Team player after team player. Not a lot of big egos. Yes, Torres was a fantastic team player back then. Rafa was perfect for us back then because we didn't had a lot of big egos in the squad.

Football will always be a team game.

Ha, good spot!

It's a valid concern though (Leicester, not my quiffing). The implications of them having a great, but likely one-off, season are being lost in all the romance.
Indeed - they may end up costing us a CL spot for more than the one season.

If you don't play as a team and have a lot of team players then it won't matter how big stars you have.

The most important point will always be that you must play as a team. That is what Klopp is excellent getting his team to do, to play as a team. He isn't an excellent tactician. He is excellent to get the players to play like a team.

If you don't attack as a team, if you don't defend like a team then you have no chance to win the league. No chance at all.

One rotten apple could destroy it all. One big ego could destroy it all. Ronaldo is an excellent player but also a rotten apple. Messi is an excellent player but also a team player. Two examples.

Wasnt this exactly what the great Liverpool teams were built on???

Not really any big stars, even the big stars we created sometimes came from lower leagues....

All everyone wants now is the quick fix by throwing cash at overpaid stars....

I for one applaud the hunger of the likes of Vardy

Correct.

Vardy isn't a Van Basten or Shearer. He is their Kuyt. We have a player like him, Ings.

Manchester C could have signed some of the best players in the world but instead they signed up very good player but not world class. Very good players that put the team first, team players. Mourinho did the same at Chelsea when he took charge 2004.

City might just win it, that is highly likely, but also pretty boring. I hope they don't.

Btw knowing that Leicester's owners are actually quite wealthy they might be able to fend of competition for their stars next Season or are they inevitably lost you reckon?

Yes definitely. Champions League football will also help finance it. I don't see any reason why Vardy would leave as they play the perfect game for him and he's becoming a legend for that club. Mahrez is slighly different as he has the talent to play for anyone and might get an opportunity he can't refuse.

Lazy examples. His similarities with Kuyt are that he works tirelessly but it ends there really. He's quicker, can strike a ball better and Kuyt never came close to the levels of goals Vardy is scoring this year.

Kuyt was consistent for many years, I would be shocked if next season vardy even got half the amount he's got this season

I think people need to move on from Sterling. He will win shit at City, it's only a matter of time, so it doesn't matter whether it's this season or not.

I wouldn't want Spurs or Arsenal to win it as they are teams that can genuinely use that success as a springboard to kick on and I definitely don't want Leicester to win on account of the aforementioned bitterness, so City it is!

You're telling me to move on yet you don't want Leicester to win yourself out of bitterness!!! Ha.

I know what you're saying though. City will win the league in my opinion any they are flush with cash anyway so it won't make much of a difference to us.

I really hope united lose out on top 4 as well.

Yeah you can't really compare Vardy to Kuyt. Kuyt has been consistently playing at a high level and has 100 + caps for his country. They're playing styles aren't even similar. Yeah Vardy works hard but his pace is his main asset. Mark Albrighton is a more apt example of a current Leicester City player who is equivalent in position and style to Dirk Kuyt. Kuyt is the far superior player obviously.

I really hope they win it now. Apart from Vardy and Schmeichel's horrible faces they're fairly likeable. It's nice to see a team upsetting what "should" happen. It's painful as Liverpool fans to see Leicester come from nowhere to do it, but surely better than the alternative. Fuck Spurs, I never want Wenger to win another league and Ageuro and Pellegrini aside Man City are cunts too. A lad in work said it'd be shit if the got champions league because they couldn't compete. Like we didlast season or united this season?

How much credit does Ranieri deserve? Seems he does not get enough. Almost same team as last year and they look organized and have a plan. Their one touch counter attacks are downright deadly and play to their strengths. Who developed that?

Certainly Kante is a major influence, because his breaking up play often leads those counters. And, he is quite gifted with the ball as well.

Well, TBF they were organised under Pearson, who's a twerp of the first magnitude but did a bang-up job turning their 2014/15 season around. However, Ranieri has to get big props for taking them up a level or three. Having failed in Greece, he looked really lucky to get a Prem job at the time. Just goes to show how much depends on finding the right combination of individuals, and how hard that is to predict.

Incredible that they're even being mentioned as contenders, let alone top of the league in February

I didn't want them to win. Do now though

If we don't win something I don't really care who else does, as long as it isn't the Mancs or the blueslime.

We've waited 26 years and counting to win it and this mob come in on their 2nd season (2nd time around) and look like doing it. Pathetic. Not taking anything away from Leicester if they win the League they deserve to but it's a sad indictment of how poorly we've done.

We had a season like this, and we fucked it up, they still might.

I'm gonna say they're going to win it now, which will probably jinx the whole thing...

Anyhoo, they deserve it big time if happens.
Remarkable season.
They better hope Vardy and Mahrez stay injury free though.

Leicester were promoted to League Division 1 in 1954 so they've waited 62 years to win it ;)

Much as I like the idea that Man City, Arsenal, Man Utd and Chelsea not winning it, I don't want Leicester to win it. Call it jealousy but I just want it to be us. :(

They had 17 points after 25 matches last season and were rock bottom of the league...

I love what Leicester are doing and what they stand for. Look what can be achieved with half decent, motivated, well coached players and passionate support. They're a lesson to us all.

Out of all cups so only one game a week. You don't need depth for that. Just need to wrap up Vardy, Mahrez and kante in cotton wool.

Would be nice if they did it but I think city will win.

I have nothing clever to say right now. I still think they will piss it away...arsenal will probably knick it?

But very impressive!

I'm rooting for them to win it. It might hurt our pride a little bit, but I would still be happy for them and their fans.
