Really enjoyed the England innings yesterday, amazing batting and score

That D/L system simply does not work for 20/20. Surely if a team only has to get a third/quarter of the score the other team got then they should only have a third/quarter of the batsmen.

Windies should have had to get 60 with only 3 or 4 batsmen tops.

191 and still lost, gutter !!

Ireland will be good game today, especially as we have Irelands best player

That DL shit was a joke last night.
It totally benefits the side batting second. Because we built our innings to the end we were shit on.
It should be, that IF it's a shortened game (ie 8 overs) they shouldhave to beat our BEST 8 overs losing no more wickets.
Basically they were chasing a score equivalent to our first 8 overs when our best 8 were at the end. How is that fair.
Furthermore when they fix the score at 63 how come it didn't rise as they lost wickets? Basically they knew they could throw wood at it every single shot as they had 10 wickets in hand.
I'd back the Netherlands to get that total or Canada.
It's bullshit and it costs us too often.

Absolutely right. The D/L needs a lot of tweaking for 20/20.

What a shite performance by England. Utter utter shite.
That said if rain fucks us again im not going to watch anymore limited over cricket in the west indies.

I don't think so mate, unless they allow Morgan to come out and bat for us as well. :)
I thought that was a fair comment made earlier that if a team picks up an option on a player like a Joyce (eg) and then they dont want to use that player, they should be able to play immediately for thier home team.

Here comes the fucking rain.
This is ruining the tournament.

Yea. while it is great to see the likes of Ed Joyce and Eoin Morgan doing so well and playing for England it would be nice to balnace there success with some benefit for their home country.
Cricket is such a minority sport here in Ireland and it needs as much help as it can get to progress.
That said, there is probably more positive exposure for cricket in Ireland when Morgan plays well for England that there would be if he was still plodding along with Ireland.

The over all rules about representation do seem a bit funny.
Ed Joyce helped Ireland qualify for the last one day world Cup and then played against them for England. I think there is a four year rule that now prevents him representing Ireland again. All very odd.

Its raining again. This is bollocks. Why schedule a tournament in a country at a time when theres ALWAYS rain.

No point in Ireland applying for it then :(

Sorry Ireland. I think yous had a chance there.
Poor game from us.

Radio 5 reported yesterday that England's first 5 batsmen yesterday were.........

1. South African
2. South African
3. South African
4. English
5. Irish

Where have all the good young English cricketers gone?

As a dry run for the World Cup, if you'll pardon the expression.

Wales & England got very lucky yesterday.

Still i think we have a decent chance of doing well in this tournament.

Hopefully the irish can continue to improve the likes of Rankin and that 17 year old spinner for us.

it seems to be only batsmen. We can find young English bowlers but not the best batsmen

Bring Strauss & Trott back and they may as well play the home games in Jo'burg.

Some Pakistani guy got a 5 wicket maiden against Australia the other day. That must be a first in International Cricket.

147 for England to beat then, not going to be easy

Hope for rain and a favourable D/L run rate??

Good result today.
We have a very good batting line up all the way to Broad.

True.

Why the fuck is Yardy batting so low though?

Dunno mate. It's nice to have him, swann and broad down the order though. Could be invaluable at some point.
Btw the Aussies looked a bit fucken serious today. Dayum!

16 sixes they hit ffs! And all after Harbhajan bowled a maiden first up.

They certainly look the team to beat.

Very classy innings from Sri lanka that. Cultured. With Murali back they'll be there or there about.
Sri lanka, New Zealand and Oz look the pick to me.

So he can make a quick getaway if the guys who reckon he stole their brand name come looking for him.

So, in summation, Ireland played England, who used a borrowed Irishman to bolster their score and then, when it came to our turn to play, wouldn't join in, in case they got wet. And under their rules, we got knocked out.

Yeah, I think we'll stick with the hurling.
Borrowed players? Pot, kettle.

Made me laugh though. ;D
