20/20 Cricket World Cup

Really good today. Very comfy that.
I think we are the second best team in this so I'm glad we made it.

What's the criteria for "foreigners" to qualify for the England cricket team these days, watching 2 episodes of Last Of The Summer Wine?

I thought that was criteria for pleading diminished responsibility.

You are not the only one mate, but i am in the pub watching it. The aussies have made a game of it, fair play to them. You would have to back our batsmen to chase down 150 though

England win

Deservedly so!

3 over to spare thats a country mile in T20 terms.
Would liked to have seen a Pakistan/England final, but still glad England have are world champions in Cricket finally.

I thought was as emphatic as you can get really. We have gone out in every game with the clear intention of going out quickly and dominating teams early. No team has been as controlling with the bat and the ball as England. I'm very proud today, and im very happy that we have a coach brave enough to change the English mentality of nudging and prodding for 5 overs until we're in. Ball1 game1 we went for the oppo. And I believe it's the only approach that can succeed in the short form of the game. Gilchrist and Hayden did it for years for Australia and in Lumb and Keiswetter (or more likely keiswetter and a.n.other) we look to have put the bump and 'NO RUN....WAIT..' days of Strauss, Cook, Shah, Bell etc behind us.
It's looking like horses for courses finally and it works.
Keiswetter 9
Lumb 6
Pieterson 9
Collingwood 8 (extra points for captaincy and today's catch)
Morgan 9
Wright 7
Bresnan 8
Swann 9 my man of the tournament
Yardy 7
Sidebottom 8
Broad 7
fabulous day. Great tournament.

well done england - the best team won, and rightly so.

on a more serious note, does any other country rely on so many naturalized citizens? England is like the France 1998 world cup team !

I don't think any of the England team are naturalised LTW - both Pietersen and Kieswetter qualify to play for England because they have British mothers

Ahhh they're both South African born though, right? I guess it's the same thing with the 'Froggies' of WC '98. Credit where it's due (the Aussies did it too - with their Dutchie!)

all teams in all sports do it. Look at all the "cannot get in the brazil team so I will offer myself out" footballers.

Athletes change to the highest bidding sheik, plus Denmark LOL

Rememeber the NZ guys playing for Japan inthe Rugby world cup, they cannot even pretend to blend in looking like everyone else.

I am not a massive fan of people changing because they live in a certain country for a few years but I have no problem with people who have an english parent like I believe Greg Rusedksi, Lennox Lewis, Pieterson, Owen Hargreaves, Kieswetter ETC.

Obviously in the 80s things were a bit different for SA cricketers coming to us

Who cares, great win and duffing Ausies is always great. I think my local the Rosebowl is hosting England v Aussies one dayer (day-nighter) next month. Be interesting to see how many 20/20 specialists come into the 50 overs team, will strauss come back?

Strauss is the captain so I would imagine he will come in for Lumb. But it will be interesting to see how they juggle the team about.

The Republic of Ireland wouldn't have a football team but for English players. And they don't even bother to naturalise most of 'em. ;)

LOL that's a bit controversial on here, Jules!

Was it Tony Cascarino who turned out to have no connections with Ireland whatsoever, not even a Irish Wolfhound? ;D
