Hope our new kit turns out better than this

I think its a decent kit. The collar could be better but im pleased with the tidied up crest. Will be interesting to see what the colour looks like when it hits the shops as the player pics look dark and the itemised pics on the official look a brighter colour. At least its not a shiney finish like the current mess.

That's fucking shocking, isn't it?!

Its not like the unveiling wasn't planned, so they knew there would be a massive spike in interest at exactly what time.

There's no excuse. Pitiful.

It's done it for years. I used to pay (stupidly) every pre-season for the E-Season ticket, and guaranteed every time the site would fuck up before or during the game, they would constantly reply with the same excuse "we didn't expect the influx of traffic"...... Errrr.... you sold the fucking tickets!

Right on cue, the post man arrives at the door with promo stuff from the club shop about the new kit....

Beast of a kit that. Absolutely love it.

Skrtel keeps on impressing. First on the pitch, now as a model.

not sure about gk kit

@mark1975. Why the random Gary Kelly pic?

It was forced on me mate, someone decided I look like him way back in koptalk days (I don't).

Is it just me or does he look like a cross between Robbie Williams and Gareth Bale on that picture?

The gk shirt brings back memories of an under 10s team I used to play for! And I think it should be a pre-requisite that any new player should have or is willing to get 2 full tattooed sleeves.

So with the home kit off this mock up below being spot on, can we expect the away and third to follow suit? I like the away, but jesus....the fucking state of that atrocity at the end? Id shoot someone if I saw them in that.

Yeah, this is the lad that gets the kits early every year so should be quite near, though he said the purple one is nearly there on the mock up but not quite.

I said ages ago, the same people who like the classic look hate that modern in your face style, & vice versa.

They'll be loads of chavs banging on about how shit & boring this kit & the away kit are, when they see that third kit, they'll rush out to buy it to wear with their horrific purple Adidas popper trackies.

Liverpool kit launch sparks anger among Hillsborough families
By Ben Smith BBC Sport

The launch of the new Liverpool home kit has prompted an angry response from a number of the families of those killed in the Hillsborough disaster.
The club's home shirt for the 2012-13 season, designed by American company Warrior, was revealed on Friday.

Fans have welcomed the design, but the decision to move the eternal flames honouring the dead from the front to the back of the shirt has angered many.
The Hillsborough Justice Campaign (HJC) said the actions were "insensitive".

Liverpool did take time to meet with the seven members of theHillsborough Family Support Group (HFSG) committee but other groups were not consulted.

The HFSG was the first group formed after the disaster in May 1989 and provides support for many of the bereaved families. The HJC also acts for a number of the families but its priority is to fight for the truth behind the events that took place at Hillsborough on 15 April 1989

A HJC statement read: "We have noted that the Hillsborough flames and '96' will now appear on the back of the shirt 'after consultation with family members'.

"We can confirm that no bereaved families of the HJC were contacted or consulted. The first we were aware of this was via the minutes of the Supporters' Committee March meeting. Once again LFC has chosen to ignore the HJC and their families.

The back of Liverpool's new shirt

"The continued refusal of the club to acknowledge the HJC is insensitive, divisive and deplorable - 96 is more than a number. LFC would do well to remember that."
Liverpool moved swiftly to defend their part in the process and claimed they had made every effort to deal with the issue as sensitively as possible.
A spokesman said: "The club consulted with the HFSG committee and shared a number of alternative designs which were considered.

"The committee selected a design, which includes the number 96 to recognise those who lost their lives. Nobody has more respect for the 96 and their families than this football club."
Who are Warrior?
  • In America, Warrior makes equipment and clothing in ice hockey and lacrosse.
  • In 2004 the company was bought by New Balance, which retained the founder, Dave Morrow, as president and chief executive officer.
  • Morrow, a lacrosse player, founded Warrior in his Princeton dormitory where he developed the first titanium stick, which the university used en route to their National Championship that year.
  • Warrior was taken from Morrow's High School American football team in his home town of Michigan, the Brother Rice Warriors.
Margaret Aspinall, chair of HFSG, said: "It is difficult for everyone to be consulted all the time. I know there are a number of the bereaved families in the HJC and I can understand what they are saying."

Andy Heaton, editor of Liverpool fanzine The Anfield Wrap , added: "Is it really that hard to consult all of the families, not some?"

The row threatens to taint the launch of the kit, which represents the start of the biggest deal of its kind in English football history.
The £25m-a-year contract with Boston-based Warrior Sports more than doubles the Anfield club's previous agreement with adidas.
Warrior is a brand better known in the lacrosse world.
According to PR Marketing, a German market research company, Liverpool are the fourth-biggest replica kit seller in football, behind Manchester United, Real Madrid and Barcelona. About 900,000 shirts are sold annually.

I don't see what the problem is really.

It was tactless not to consult them, but I must admit I really like the old/new Liverbird - it was getting to look like it had scaffolding round it with all of the bits and pieces that had been added. (Does the club really 'continue to refuse to acknowledge' the HJC?)

Every kinda painted themselves into a corner with the hjc by refusing to talk independent bodies, which was aimed at isolating SOS.

I think they should have notified the hjc of the change, nothing more, nothing less.

Btw, the headline is misleading (shock), the hjc don't mind the kit & placing of the flames, & are pleased about the 96 bring on there it seems, but are unhappy with lack of recognition from the club by not speaking to them first.

I don't see what the big problem is. I could understand if the club had removed the flames altogether but they have made the memory of the 96 more noticeable. It's doing my head in the way some people are banging on about it, Livvy's right, why not bring up over 2 months ago when they first found out about it.

Trying to pick a fight with the club that is on its side would seem like a silly idea. Let's hope this blows over.

It's not sensible and if they are not careful it will make them look petty. I bet the vast majority of none Liverpool fans did not even know the flames were there or the significance, now it is obvious. Shanks grand daughter will be on next moaning they have taken the Shankly Gates off.

Will they be wearing it on Sunday?

Seems to be the norm that the new kits get an airing for the last game of the season.

Couldn't have asked for a better kit.
On the 96 question, I actually think it's better to have it separate, it has it's own place and will be much more noticeable as a result.

So what about the old crest - will it disappear from everywhere, programmes, Kop, everywhere? Hope so....
