Jordan Henderson

Oddly, I found his reaction to the penalty shout where he go booked the most telling aspect of him so far.

His reaction was exemplary, looked a bit pained, then laughed in disbelief, then genuinely laughed & spoke to the ref in a friendly manner explaining his point & shrugged & took the card in very good grace.

For someone so young it was astonishing. The lad will be a great player for us, I'm sure of it.

apart from henderson's excellent crosses it's passing is pleasing in that he will release the ball with one touch as often as possible. played in suarez and downing with one touch.

He'll never be captain. He is proper dim as well.

I like the way he refers to himself as 'us'. ha ha that's ace, the only way to top that would refering to himself in the 3rd person.
That's a Mackem/Geordie thing is it not though?

Yeah that was impressive. He does seem like a really nice lad.

Stop being such a hateful shit.

It really winds me up when people sneer at the supposed lack of intelligence of footballers (and our players in particular).

Who gives a fuck if they can't debate Plato and Jeung ?

Their job is to get a ball into a net.

Fuck's sake !

Sorry to Skully if I came off a little aggressive there.

It does upset me though.

pyar don't worry about it. i'm starting to love hendo, he's very endearing.

I've really warmed to Henderson, I think he's my favourite of the newbies (after Luis, of course)

Yeah he is, no idea where Jeung is at though.

Same here.

Squiggs' post is pretty much how I feel, he's tidy and has got that bit better with each game, he can look like a passenger at times and goes for the easy ball too often but he seems to have a good footballing brain, two good feet and good composure. My worry outwide is that he's not particularly quick and some of his moves to try and beat a man are almost sent by post. His delivery is excellent though and his movement off the ball seems probably his strength, maybe that's where Kenny and co think he can replace Meireles and eventually Gerrard.

I think this 'next Gerrard' thing is unrealistic, not because he's not very good, but because Gerrards don't come along very often.

Exactly, Shelvey is the new Gerrard.
This man know

Krump is spot on. The next Gerrard comparison is unrealistic and only adds pressure on the lad. Just leave the lad to develop, he has the tools to be a very good footballer much like Shelvey.

Bruno Cheyrou was the next zidane....once that failed to materialise I gave up 'the next' as a general rule!!

Don't know who said 'next Gerrard', I was just saying that eventually he might replace him, not that he'll be as good.

Ok, I fucked up. I meant "Jung".

Lol etc...!

Bump on this. I think the lad's showing signs of improvement now and is much, much better playing in the middle of the park. Are people changing opinions of the kid any ?

STOP BUMPING OLD TOPICS YOU'RE RUINING THE INTERNET
I won't. I'm going to do it until Ross admits Lucas was ace against City.

We could be a while....

Defiantly, I like what I see, he's good to start some games be on the bench for others, he'll grow into a great player. I don't think he's a nailed into a starting position like Lucas is yet though!

OK then, Henderson played well yesterday but he was crap against City. I still don't think he's good enough yet.

I thought he was good against City, not great, but good.

Hes just a kid innit. Like all kids finding their way there will be ups and downs.
I thought he was a passenger against City but then he was great yesterday.
I think Kenny is handling him perfectly.

All the Shelveys, Coates, Hendersons etc need time to develop and grow.
No concerns really......other than the fee and the fact we could have used it better at the time.
You have to say if we make top four the gamble will have been worth it.
Half a season in its looking like Adam, Enrique, Suarez are great signings.
Henderson, Coates and Carroll are potential for the future (if carroll is shown patience as he too is just a kid).
Downing looks exactly like everyone thought. A stinker.

Henderson is showing a lot of promise and I don't think we should be too worried about his developments. He'll become a very fine player indeed.

More in the Lampard mould though than Gerrard if comparisons has to be made. Imo.

Lucas was very good against City. A game in which we couldnt beat a team with ten men.

Because no team has ever failed to beat a team with ten men (that is, with 15 minutes to go or something). Bilge. We created a stack of chances when they went down to 10, and Lucas teed up at least one of those chances (for Suarez).

I think he was ace against Chelsea. Not bad against City either, and he has shown glimpse of greatness every now and then. Still young and need to mature. But that was what I expected in the first place...
