Kevin Pietersen Resigns?

KP resigns as England Captain. On SSN now. All over a disagreement over how the team is run, with the coach Peter Moores being his prime target. Pietersen wants full control over when the team train, and more say over who is selected. This has all came about after Michael Vaughan was not selected for the west Indies tour, against Pietersens' will.
I am very surprised he has threw the toys out of the pram. I thought he would sit tight and hope the ECB dismissed Moores.
All this in a home Ashes year......not ideal preparation.

To be fair to him, he is widely reported to have made it clear to the ECB that he foresaw problems in the relationship with the coach which would need sorting if they gave him the job. If that's true and they've done nothing, then he had no choice but to give them an ultimatum, which they seem to have rejected. What a mess.

LTW I saw most of them..... you were very unlucky not to whitewash them. IMO you can call SA the number 1 side in the world, although the records still say different. Shame Smith couldnt hold on for 2 more overs and you would officially be there.

BTW Peter Moores has also resigned.

Smith, although I despise him for the shit he pulled with Klausner, is one of the best ...

Captains need to be cocky arrogant self assured chaps IMO like Ponting and Smith, we finally had one.

There is no other player in the squad guarenteed to play all forms of the game, no idea who they will chose and how Peterson will play now.

ECB should not have let this happen, Peterson said what he wanted from the start.

I don't know much about this but it looks like Pietersen got way too big for his boots. Trying to get Moores sacked and approaching Shane Warne about taking over is a step too far for a captain. The ECB were right to strip him of the captaincy.
