I wonder if the fickle newcastle fans still think mike ashley doesn't know what he's doing?

Football fans have little or no appreciation for clubs being run sensibly.

the bottom line for fans is silverware and that's fair enough, they're fans not accountants (well, some are, but you get my point).

I was hoping Newcastle might offer us some half decent cash to have Carroll back, but I can't see any chance now that they'd take him back with this form they're in.

Back to Newcastle. I'm happy for Ryan Taylor. He's finally getting an extended run in a team. He did okay for Wigan and takes a mean free kick. Scouser too.

Scored a belter today.

Pardew said: "He can't be an unsung hero for 11 games. He was for a couple, but at the moment, he has been terrific.

"He's been brilliant, and he is such a lovely lad. I was chuffed for him today.

"I don't think he likes Everton - he's a Liverpool fan, isn't he?"

A club spokesman said: "Steven sustained an Achilles injury yesterday at the end of our game with Chelsea. After medical assessment, he will be having surgery tomorrow and it is likely he will be out for the rest of the season."

Fellow centre-back Fabricio Coloccini also limped off during the defeat to Chelsea as he suffered a thigh strain and he could miss the trip to Norwich on Saturday.
