How can Andy Carroll have a higher wage than Suarez?
It's a joke, we have to get rid of Cole and Johnson. I'm promoting Kelly to starting right back.
Who was it that said that Maxi is one our best paid players?
He didn't even make the list.

In €uros. 85k/week in pounds.

jesus, thats ridiculous, he's not even first choice RB for us, imagine comparing his wages to Kellys

I don't get this new obsession with player wages, nobody seemed to mind it for years but now it suddenly became one of the main factors when it comes to debating player transfers?

to be fair he hasn't been first choice as we have no left back, I suspect come the start of next season (if he is here) he will start ahead of kelly.

he has been playing a lot better, mainly defensively, since he's been moved to left back, probably more to do with kenny coming in than anything else, and i suppose if the owners can afford it without it becoming detrimental to the team and any other possible signings then it shouldnt be a problem. If the wages have any kind of negative effect whatsoever though i'd much rather have Kelly on th right with Flanagan as cover and Enrique (or whoever) on the left with Robinson as cover, we should be able to get a decent price for johnson if he lowers his wages a bit, its not like he's going to have to go back to stealing toilet seats

Nah, it's keeping up with the supposedly statto new owners.

A shocking amount of that list is living off former glories and dont currently justify their paypacket

That's very likely to happen since players normally signs 4-5 year deals.

There's no effing way Carroll is on 80k a week, no chance. he was on about 20k a week at newcastle. 80k maybe if Cyril was still with us and doing all the negotiationg but not now with Cammolli here.

I honestly dont believe Kelly will be a long term RB. He seems too injury prone for that position. I expect to see him featuring at Cb in the not too distant future.

Pardew offered a different take. "I don't want this animosity but Andy's slightly misguided; he's emotional at the moment, he's a local boy and that's understandable," he said. "We certainly didn't twist his arm to get on the helicopter. He had a five-year contract, a contract we said we would renew in the summer. He wanted to renew it straight away."

When Newcastle declined to offer a lucrative new agreement immediately, Carroll is said to have asked to speak to Liverpool and his manager told him to put that request in writing. "That was when the power shifted," said Pardew. "Liverpool's offer was enormous, the figure is extraordinary for a 22-year-old who has done six months in the Premier League but, if Andy had really wanted to stay, he could have stayed."

It was only yesterday afternoon that the Carroll deal was tied up, freeing Torres to depart for a medical in west London. Newcastle quoted Tottenham £30m earlier in the month when they inquired about Carroll and could not refuse when Liverpool met the £35m valuation. Carroll's wages are expected to rise from £20,000-a-week to £70,000-a-week.

According to the Guardian, Carroll's wages will spike from 27k to 80k per week. Newcastle is now being linked to Emile Heskey and Peter Crouch for Carroll replacements.
