I don't think players get paid for matches they are banned for.

I can't believe that. A ban invoked by the club, then sure. But not by the FA.
Some players that have specific roles in the team will often 'take one for the team' and get a yellow. They inevitably add up and they get banned. Is the club going to withhold the players wages? I very much doubt it.

Yeah they do, I remember a manc mate of mine going mental at Ferdinand cos he sat out a 9 month (or whatever) ban collecting his 100k a week and then demanded a pay rise when he came back the following season

They get paid less cos of performance and appearance bonuses etc but they do get paid
