Finally found the clip for the U18s' 2-2 draw against Derby. Drool over the buildup to our sexy equalizer, starting at the 9:35 mark. With our boys a man short (straight red), Polgar, Nicholas and Whelan showed good skill to escape pressure and move the ball around sweetly before presenting Sinclair with the chance to finish.

Looks like Brad Smith's knee problem wasn't serious - played 120 mins for Swindon Town in their 4-2 defeat in extra time to Brighton & Hove Albion in the Carling Cup Round 2 game. Teixeira came on as a sub in extra time and put up an assist 5 mins later to put Brighton 2-1 ahead.

Liverpool Academy duo Sheyi Ojo and Jordan Rossiter have been called up by England U18s for next month's friendly with the Netherlands.

The game takes place at Bury FC's Gigg Lane on Friday September 5.
If you would like to go and cheer the duo on, tickets are only £3 for adults and £1.50 for U16s and are available now by calling 0871 221 1885.

Bit surprised at this

The surprise is mainly the timing, especially considering he just penned a contract extension in January this year. Thought he'd probably go on loan first with an option for a permanent move later if he does well. Utrecht must've been impressed enough to take him on a permanent move right away. Good luck to him!

LFC Players on Loan

1) Andre Wisdom- On loan at WBA until the end of the season
2) Luis Alberto- On loan at Malaga until the end of the season
3) Iago Aspas- On loan at Sevilla until the end of the season (Option to buy)
4) Tiago Ilori- On loan at Bordeaux until the end of the season
5) Divock Origi- On loan at Lille until the end of the season
6) Joao Teixeira- On loan at Brighton & Hove Albion until the end of season
7) Brad Smith- On loan at Swindon Town
8) Rafa Paez- On loan at Bologna until the end of season (Option to buy)

And Ibe to Derby should be done soon too.

Add Ibe to the list. Move to Derby confirmed. At least it's a much better club for him than Bolton.

Liverpool can confirm Jordon Ibe has joined Derby County on a season-long loan deal.
The 18-year-old will spend the rest of the 2014-15 campaign at Pride Park after sealing his switch today.

Ibe has made three appearances for the Reds' first team since a debut against Queens Park Rangers in May 2013.

The winger was part of the Liverpool squad that embarked on a five-city tour of the United States as part of their pre-season preparations earlier this summer.

Wonder how much Derby have had to pay in loan fees and/or wages. I know Bolton isn't doing that great financially right now, but I'm surprised that cost is the reason they've lost out to Derby here - surely it can't have been that prohibitively costly?. Good to see Ibe going to a better-placed club anyway.

The Bolton News:
Bolton Wanderers call time on pursuit of Liverpool winger Jordon Ibe and Crewe Alexandra striker Max Clayton

DOUGIE Freedman admits that Wanderers have been priced out of deals to sign Crewe striker Max Clayton and Liverpool’s Jordon Ibe.

The Whites boss had high hopes of landing the talented duo last week but has once again been frustrated by a lack of available funds at the Macron Stadium.

On Ibe, the highly-rated Anfield winger who had been close to signing a season-long loan until last week, Freedman confirmed that the 18-year-old was on the verge of a move to Championship rivals Derby.

“Jordon looks like he is going to Derby,” he said. “It looks like we have missed out on that one once again.

“The contribution that we would have had to make financially was too difficult for us to meet.”

On Clayton, the 20-year-old striker who had been training with the club last week, Freedman confirmed that he had now travelled to Denmark to speak with FC Midtjylland.

“He’s a good player and we liked him – he’s the kind of player we should be bringing to the club,” he said.

“But the fee that Crewe wanted it out of our reach.”

Crewe were understood to have put a £1million price tag on the youngster, who was out of contract with the League One club but whose value would have been set by a tribunal if Wanderers had pursued a permanent deal.

If he moves abroad, the fee received by the Railwaymen would be substantially lower than it would if he stayed in England.

Our U18s play Mancs U18s in an hour (or is that two? not sure if I can trust my time converter). Damn, not usual that I get to watch an Academy / Reserves game at this great timeslot, but unfortunately I'm gonna have to miss this one.

Liverpool U18s host Manchester United at the Kirkby Academy on Saturday morning - and you can watch the whole game live on LFCTV and LFCTV GO from 10.30am BST.

Kick-off is at 11am but for the best build-up to the game, join Peter McDowall live in Kirkby from 10.30am alongside former Reds Gary Gillespie and Mark Wright.

Neil Critchley's new-look side drew 2-2 with Derby County last weekend and the young Reds will be hoping for a repeat of last season's home win over arch-rivals United.

Team: Fulton, Whelan, Hart, Brewitt, Roberts, Phillips, Wilson, Marsh, Sinclair, Kent, Canos.

Subs: Polgar, Firth, Maxwell, Nicholas, Travis.

The mancs aren't playing the same formation as the first team. Quite a physical side, they've clattered Kent three times already and it's only the 8th minute.

David Roberts (left CB in this game) made a woeful mistake - received the ball from the keeper midway in his own half, dawdled, lost his footing and the mancs went off and hit the post. Lucky reprieve.

Then the always lively Canos played a hopeful ball into the box and Sinclair headed it home from close to the keeper. 2-0 after 17 minutes.

Our defence is the weakest part of the side (surprise surprise). Very static and slow. Ryan Kent seemed to be so frustrated at the oil-tanker style speed at which they were moving the ball out he raced in to take over and looks as though he's tweaked his groin for his pains. (Kent is still being hacked at whenever he sets off on a run - the mancs are playing as though Allardyce is the coach).

3-0. Will Marsh. Superb mazy run down the right by Harry Wilson, cuts in, finds Marsh to his left, Marsh hits it well first time from about 10 yards out. Really good technique from Marsh, great play from Wilson.

Nice finish by Marsh after an excellent run by Harry Wilson.
3-0

What's the formation, gkmacca?

It looks like a diamond, although to be honest they're not exactly sticking to it at this stage. Sinclair is sometimes playing as an orthodox number 9, which he isn't, and sometimes he's playing deeper alongside Marsh or Kent. Wilson and Canos (two fine players) are switching sides occasionally - Wilson was on the right until recently, now he's swapped with Canos and is on the left.

HT: 3-0. The score is a fair reflection of LFC's superiority. A very impressive attacking performance.

A very fluid formation: sometimes there's only Sinclair up front, sometimes it's Marsh and Sinclair, and sometimes there's four with both full backs bombing up behind them.

Fulton, the keeper, has been very good. He's a keeper I've quite liked for a while now - unlike most, he's vocal, as well as a good organiser and brave. He's been very sound and secure in this first half.

Tom Brewitt (at CB) was lively and determined in a defence that was, apart from him, too slow in thought and action, even though they weren't really put under much pressure by the mancs.

Phillips has played some intelligent balls forward.

Canos and Wilson have been the pick of the attackers - interchanging repeatedly, always quick and inventive. Marsh and Sinclair have been good up front, although they've been battered a bit by an unusually crude and physical manc defence. Kent has been decent, too, although he, too, has been clattered six or seven times.

Highlight of the half - the left-footed Wilson on the right wing, cutting inside after a great run to set up Marsh.

Wilson, by the way, has gone off after getting a kick on the achilles. He's replaced by Callum Nicholas (an ex-manc).
