His team are down by a goal, he subs himself into the game scores the equaliser and saves a peno:

Sometimes you just have to do it yourself. Two goals down at half-time against Hampton & Richmond in the Ryman League last week, the Grays Athletic manager, Mark Bentley, was unhappy with his team’s performance.

They pulled a goal back early in the first half but Bentley, a former Southend and Gillingham midfielder, was still not satisfied so substituted himself on.

Shortly after his arrival, the 37-year-old glanced a header in from a corner to score the equaliser. But then things threatened to turn sour 13 minutes from the end when the Grays keeper, Conor Gough, was dismissed following an altercation with Charlie Moon and Hampton & Richmond were awarded a penalty.

Bentley decided to step between the posts. And after a four minute break in play, the man of the moment kept calm to make an unorthodox save to keep the score level.

There's a YouTube video of it as well - can't embed while I'm on the phone though

They won the game too

I had a very successful stint as player/manager for a couple of seasons about 15 years ago but effected the exact opposite result to yer man in a "big" cup match. We were playing a team 3 leagues above us; despite being under consistent pressure we were somehow leading 2-0 (our only 2 attacks) with 5 minutes to go. I was determined not to make a substitution as the 11 on the pitch had done such an amazing job. With 5 minutes to go our winger had to come off so I decided to bring myself on (as I was a CB by trade) to shore things up.....................we lost 3-2.
