I watched Real v Deportivo tonight.

Xabi was a bit-part player.

Guti was running tings.

A genius back-heel assist for the second goal.

I forgot Alonso was playing.

I miss him still.

I think Brendan would've probably killed himself if he was South Asian, Gene....or a woman for that matter.

I think there's a youtube of Alonso in his first season against Fulham or Spurs

The PassMaster or sommat

It is enough to make a grown man cry
I haven't seen the you tube but both those games were boss. I think it was Spurs that he put on a 90 min masterclass and he came on at half time against Fulham, 0-2 down and we won 4-2.
v Norwich, he was unbelievable.

Xabi Alonso-The Best Midfielder

What a shite thread and some shitty replys.
The lad is class, thats obvious. A poor match against Bolton isnt going to change that.
What cunts like Mike Hunt dont understand is that some players take longer to settle. Wrighting him off after 10ish games and 4 months is so stupid that it hurts.

The midfield Morientes? Give me a fucking break.
😀 😀

That was some performance that!

Ross> can't even recall the score was it 1-1?

Anyhow, it's a lovely compilation of El Surgeon at his scalpel-sharp best

I miss him and his handsome face and gingery beard and cute accent

I miss him I miss him I miss him!

You r making Anita cry, stop it.

Yeah it was Spurs

Pinging the ball all over the place like a slim Janbo
I remember that game was only broadcast on Irish TV at the time, it was a 3 o'clock Saturday game. It was a majestic performance.
Yep it was 2-2. Edman scored a wonder goal. I remember laughing when he was about to take the shot. Next second it flew in to the top corner. Garcia scored a great goal too.

I remember Dunphy and Giles fawning over Alonso saying it was the best passin display they had ever seen.
What is the use of him doing so well and not winning?

Alberto's assist for Dirk's goal was great.

Dirky Boy totally appreciated it as well, telling the little Roman "that's two now".

He'll be ok.

Stop the hysteria.

This thread is jokes.

Alberto Aquilani Liverpool career in the premiership to date.

4 Starts

4 Wins

2 Assists.

Yeah he's obviously shit.

He's back from a long injury playing in a different country, in a team that is playing like strangers, he's in and out of the side and he's played in 3 different positions in 4 games.
He's doing fine.
Aye

Put in a cheeky bid for 10m?

"he'll be ok" is optimistic in this thread

I've been truly impressed with some of his class so far. That series of touches before Kuyt's goal against spurs was the best bit of touch and skill we've seen in red since Gerrard brazil flick in to his assist (against Stoke?). Some of his back heels, one time passing. Best thing is he'll impose a style of play on our team too. He'll get us playing in a style he's more suited too and we desperately need. If he's given the shot. He isn't very well rounded though and that requires training and it needs to be built into his role in the team.

I didn't bother to watch a game but this thread isn't making great reading. Surely he can't have been that bad?Right?
He was shit.
Did he assist on the winning goal?

So he played shit, true. But he did something to help win the game. If it was Lucas (who has 1 assist the whole season) who had played shit and assisted on the winning goal, what would you say .....

Aqua will come good next season
If Lucas had have put in the performance Aquilani did, I'd have said he was shit.

Quit fannying around mate, he played shit.

I've said this the whole season (even quoted Baresi saying he 'doesn't fit into Madrid') ... He's been average and I think he'll be on another team within 1-2 years.

That's all that really matters. If Lucas does that (& plays shit), he gets the same 'praise' in my books at least.

I'd also like to say that Kuyt will carry our team now until Gerrard rounds into form and Torres returns. We should be able to continue momentum and get 4th (in my opinion).

Guti's assist, as mentioned by Themn ... class:

Big up Oncy, I logged on after watchin MOTD to point out that even with his apparent shitness he still got the key assists that led the opening goals today and against Spurs. In a season when we've strugged to score, he's been excellent in creating openings for us when he has played.

People need to chill their beans.
Damn straight. Obviously he's all over the place and low on confidence, but despite that his better moments are pretty much our better moments (along with SG).

I recall Robert Pires, Evera and Vidic all being shit for an extended period of time in the EPL, so I think I'll wait to judge him. Though he did help win us the game today.

If anyone wants a fucking *weapons-grade* dose of irony, I would suggest you read oncey's post in this thread and then immediately read his contributions to the recently-bumped Alonso thread.

It might also give you some insight into his record for recognising Liverpool talent

On which point, he is not alone

So, yeah, I do appreciate the fact that it is early days in Purple's career, but he was alarmingly shit yesterday, and not for the first time
Sublime.
He'd have looked a major league twat if that hadn't of come off!

What a fucktard of a thread and unfortunately typical. He's come back from a long injury and its naturally gonna take a bit of time to get used to playing in this league.

But hes started four game for fuck sake and already the knives are out.

And needless to say the thread has degenerated into the Xabi alonso appreciation society.

Get OVER it folks xabi is history as far as we are concerned. He left of his own fucking accord!

The knives are hardly out, give it time.

And I'm afraid there is far more at work here than just 4 games in which he has been, to put it politely, 'patchy'.

What you're seeing is a multitude of agendas all wrapped up in one player; pro and anti-rafa camps, the Alonso situation, Lucas, Benitez's transfer shockers, a season that has disintegrated, people who said Purple would be amazing and better than Alonso (that includes Benitez)

A maelstrom of bile and opinion

I don't think people are saying that Alberto defo won't fail, just that he needs more time to prove himself either way.
I'm sure most people that had seen him play in Italy would of thought that Veron would be a success over here. And the same goes for Alberto, he looked the business in Italy, but some players just don't travel well. But lets give him more than 4 starts in the league before we decide if he is up to it or not.
