What the fucks happened to him? Is a shadow of himself, and even falling down pecking order behind CJ? Is it fatigue or is Slot? Honestly not sure what it is with him

its a phase every player face at some point in his career. but how he overcomes make them different.
that's difference between top player and player with top talent

I just don't think he's suited to a double pivot role. He's not physically imposing and his passing from deep isn't that great. He looked better further forward against Inter, and I wouldn't be surprised if the Wharton/Anderson rumours are indicative of us realising we need players more suited for those deeper roles.

I looked back at the MOTM data from last season. He took till November last season to get going. It looks like he’s taking longer this season.

I thought the goal against Madrid would kick start his season didn’t materialise, he’ll come good I’m sure, most likely in the new year.

Right now I feel our midfield needs workrate and physicality more than anything else so we can fight for some points. Which means I would have Grav, Szob, and Jones starting. Even though Jones still pisses me off with how slow he is to release the ball.

The other more concerning question is what happened to Isak ?
The lack of pre season excuse has been played over and over again it doesn't stick now we are almost golf way in the season and he has hardly contributed any thing positive in terms of goals or even involvement in attacking play nor does he at least hold on to the ball and bring others in play . At least Ekitike is a bright spark as a striker thank God.

He's a clever player and is fast off the mark to step in with a challenge. However, he is not the best athlete out there so he needs to work in smaller spaces, where the team is compact.

Our entire setup has been pretty wank this season where we lose the ball in bad areas and opponents find all sorts of space to run at us. As a result Macca struggles as he just couldn't cover the ground like Szobo.

Once the team finds a way, a system to be more compact, he will show his strengths again. He's been better recently, coinciding with the team being setup much better than when we were the fodders of the league.

There's a thread for it
