Ali, the Son

Missed a beat not calling the thread "Ali the Son". I wanted to post the article but was too lazy to copy and paste all the text on my phone.

Beautiful read though. Definitely got me a bit misty.

Very similar experience to when I lost my Mam, that same year, unable to go home to say goodbye, watching the funeral from a cell phone, etc... Brought back a lot of memories.

Loved his line about them having nothing left to say to each other, because they both KNEW how they felt about each other... I often worried aloud back then that I didn't grieve enough when we lost Mam - she was the most important person in my life for almost 50 years, after all - until somebody who had practice with this sort of thing simply said to me "Grief is often regret for missed opportunities and things that were never said... You and your Mam said everything that needed to be said - She knew." That helped so much.

Oh, and his line about Mo never being that happy when somebody ELSE scores made me laugh out loud! 🙂

Love that man. He's one of my all-time favourite Reds.

Jurgs always said that Allison is an even better man than he is a goalkeeper. How right he is. It's perhaps an overly used phrase however our golden Sunday a couple of days ago, all the trophies we've won in recent years and all the memorable games, they mean more with men like Allison, Virgil, Robbo, Bobby etc etc wearing our red shirt. They mean more with Jurgen and now Arne leading the team.
