Antoine Semenyo

Would be nice to have a two footed player in the squad. Jota was very two footed, that was a blessing at times. Diaz was ok with his weaker foot.

On paper he's a good signing, but we need to really be bringing in players who help us stop shipping two goals a game

**ahem** Chiesa...ARE YOU SLOT IN DISGUISE??!!??

I've only ever watched compilations of Olise, so my opinion isn't worth much, but I've not been impressed.

What am I missing?

Olise has a release clause in his contract that activates this summer by the sounds of it.

Why wouldn't it be possible to sign him?

If Salah goes next summer he'll most certainly be one of the options to bring in.

Eberl said: “The contract is valid until June 2029, no release clause is included and Olise is on his way to becoming one of the world's best players."

Much rather have Semenyo over Olise.

We need a player like him on the wing, quick, strong, hardworking, being two-footed is a bonus and nothing against Olise but he does seem a bit of an oddball in his mannerisms.

I never knew until just now that Semenyo was English and was playing for Bristol City till 2 seasons ago. I just assumed Bournemouth had took a punt on him from somewhere in France.
We should sign him. Nothing to do with the above, just, we should sign him.

This is a terrible terrible thing to say, but

I just crave a big rapid black wing player with dreadlocks, ideally one who grew up in London born to Nigerian parents and has played in the Championship.

We missed Olise and Eze. We need to sign Semenyo otherwise I'm going to start watching Alex Iwobi

Having someone with real pace and strength and can get in behind is key to unlocking Wirtz. Not only does it stretch the play and give more space for the midfield but Wirtz has the vision to spot those runs and make the passes. It's not the only thing holding Florian back, but it's part of it. There's not one player in our team that can regularly beat a man, similar to how Salah used to, or Doku did against us, and that's the sort of basic level shit that matters, regularly gets understated and was seemingly overlooked in the summer. In their defence, it's likely Hughes knew about this release clause and maybe part of the reason for not signing Guehi was to hold money in reserve to Semenyo and take Guehi in the summer. It's back fired in the short term, but that could have been the thinking. We could have saved money elsewhere and prioritised Guehi but that's another discussion.

Being able to beat a man is one of the best ways to cut through a press because that screws up set up. Having to double up or even triple up means there should be gaps. Just passing through them means you keep with the man and can cut out balls too.

Plus he seems to be able to score on the break which I have zero confidence in any of our players doing.

That's why guys like Doku and Diaz end up being so underrated by snooty fans. Just going past one defender causes havoc and stretches a defence.
