Might not be a popular opinion, but things being so tight financially, is it time to cash in on The Ox and get someone who isn't so fragile? I think we could still get £40m for him, which would cover Sarr's transfer fee.

I really like Ox, he seems to have a great personality etc. I wouldn't transfer list him but if a team offered what we paid for him? I'd reluctantly sell.

Klopp won't sell Ox this year. He clearly is a great character in the dressing room, and has shown an outstanding attitude to come back from the injury he had. I'm not a fan of his overall play, but he did get 8 goals from midfield this year. Klopp will persevere with him and give him at least another season before he entertains the idea of selling him.

Doubt anyone would pay 40 million for him anyway. But could expect clubs like Leicester or Southampton paying something like 25 million for him next year.

Exactly this. I have to say I'm disappointed that the play-making side of his game seems to have disappeared lately – in his first season before the injury he wasn't just scoring, but actually pulling the strings in midfield, keeping up the high tempo and developing a nice understanding with Mo, whom he assisted on several occasions. Now his touch seems heavier and he looks more like a typical winger who needs space in front of him to do anything dangerous. I do agree that if he doesn't find himself again next season, he'll probably be moved on.

Totally agree with this. This last year was his first full season after a long-term injury so we need to give him the benefit of the doubt.
I was hugely impressed by his attitude and determination to come back from a really serious injury as quickly as he could and although his performance levels have understandably dropped, I can't recall seeing him shy away from tackles or looking hesitant on the field.
He's just had several games where he looked ineffective, possibly because he wasn't playing in an ideal position for him or because he needs a run of games to find his best form.
Next season will be huge for him but if we're still having this conversation this time next year then we'll probably need to move him on.

It has to be so tough mentally to be able to make those quick turns and movement after coming back from his injuries. He just needs loads of games to allow himself to move on instinct again. If he can’t then unfortunately his days at the top level are over. But really hope he recovers.

I didn't see much of any evidence that ox was struggling with confidence with his body holding up.

His upside is what his upside has always been. His downside remains the same too, that he has obvious qualities and goal threat but doesn't look like he suits any particular position or has any consistency especially with nuts and bolts midfield duty.

Since we have plenty of the latter and less of the former, he will have at least another season of showing his stuff in patches, but it does seem like hell end up as one of those midfield curiosities.

If we sell AOC for £40m - Sarr’s price will go up to £60m+.

I’d love for him to prove me wrong but I find it hard to see him establishing himself if we give him more time. A “midfield curiosity” as Fark said sounds about right.

I know we won’t sell but he’s near the top of my list of areas we can improve the squad.

Yes. And some seem to have forgotten that, in spite of his problems last season, he still managed to score some superb goals for us.

He's a player I wouldn't trust to start, but I would trust to bring on when we're chasing a game. He has an innate drive and power when playing in midfield that we often lack. He turns it on when the chips are down or when we're in a cup.

I'd be willing to sell if we can improve on him, but not if we can't, and I'm far from confident we could achieve the former for the kind of money we'd be willing to spend. He's a good player and seemingly a good character as well, and our progress has been built on having both these things around the club.

He is just ok. Nothing special.

I think you're thinking of someone like Leonhardson. It's important to have a proper sense of perspective. He's not 'just ok'. He's a really interesting player with plenty of potential, technically excellent, who has the ability to cause havoc against the likes of City because he can break out of set patterns, completely wreck pre-rehearsed defensive strategems and suddenly bomb forward in an aggressive, incisive and direct way. As he showed before he got injured. But he's not 'just ok'.

OX..

We should keep him.. hes another leader.. always presents himself well in the media..

Had a purple patch this season where he was unplayable.. Just needs more consistency..

He is still only 26.. plenty of time to develop.. Not even in his prime yet..

Oh and his bird.. Wow..

Let's take some time to appreciate that Butt..
