A talented player deserves one full season at a football club.

Until we get the fee which reflects his current value - £12-13M in my book - then we should hold onto him. If someone stumps up the cash then fair enough, cut our losses. But we shouldn't allow ourselves to be screwed over yet again.

absolutely, also imagine if ming gets injuried (while gerrard is recovering from injury)...

*shudder*

I don't think that would be too bad*, just play Suarez deeper.

Carrol
Downing Suarez Kuyt
Adams / Henderson / Lucas / Spearing / Shelvey

*Considering we lost our best player and best understudy. Obv it will be a worse team

But, but, but what will happen if aqua gets injured, whilst ming is injured while Gerrard is recovering from injury???

That's what Joey Barton is for.

Italy manager Cesare Prandelli has named his squad for Wednesday’s friendly against world champions Spain.

Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli and Milan forward Antonio Cassano are included, as is Parma’s Sebastien Giovinco.

Roma’s Daniele De Rossi returns to the set-up following his exclusion for disciplinary problems towards the end of last season.

Napoli goalkeeper Morgan De Sanctis will be replacing the injured Emiliano Viviano of Inter.

Goalkeepers: Buffon (Juventus), De Sanctis (Napoli), Sirigu (Paris SG).

Defenders: Balzaretti (Palermo), Bonucci (Juventus), Cassani (Palermo), Chiellini (Juventus), Criscito (Zenit), Maggio (Napoli), Ogbonna (Torino), Ranocchia (Inter).

Midfielders: Aquilani (Liverpool), De Rossi (Roma), Marchisio (Juventus), Montolivo (Fiorentina), Thiago Motta (Inter), Nocerino (Palermo), Palombo (Sampdoria), Pirlo (Juventus).

Attackers: Balotelli (Manchester City), Cassano (Milan), Giovinco (Parma), Pazzini (Inter), Rossi (Villarreal).

Aquilani's agent Franco Zavaglia has now admitted that his client might stay at Liverpool and fight for a place in Kenny Dalglish's already-congested midfield.

"Alberto has played nearly every pre-season friendly at Liverpool," Zavaglia told Radio Sportiva. "He's a major player, who was in the national team even before the injury.

"We'll wait a little to see whether he will remain at Liverpool or whether a team from Italy will take him. Now he has three more years of the contract and if he stays in England he will have plenty of satisfaction.

"The offer of a loan from Fiorentina was not right. We are looking for a permanent solution that fits all."

is it wrong for me to hope the transfer window closes with aqua still on our books? does that make me a bad person?
Not in my book, anyway. That's what I've been secretly hoping for since the transfer market opened in July.

I wanted him gone, outta here, fucked off, left go, sacked, but pre season (I know I know) has really changed my opinion of the player.

Only three weeks to go. I think they'll offer £10 Million a week before the window closes and we'll accept.

unfortuntely.
I actually think we will take the aqua money and purchase a centre back, so I guess that would soften the blow.

His attitude on Saturday was shit, and if hes going to stay he needs to cut that crap out quickly.
Yep, I was disappointed with him on Saturday, he was anonymous, though it's fair to say he's looked good in most of the other preseason games when he's had N'Gog ahead of him, providing a bit of movement, the midfield and attack on Saturday was pretty static, but it was a big chance for him to stake his claim and it went begging.

Despite the 'latest' agent talk, I still think he'll be gone by the end of August, at least we have no issue of him ending up cuptied in Europe.

He doesn't usually play in the forward type role though does he? Which is good as we have players that could do better in that role

I was hoping that Aquilani stays because I think he'll do well in a pass and move team but Milan are boxing clever. 3 or 4 days before the window closes and they be in for him. Kenny will cash in. Who knows what rabbit Kenny will pull out of the hat?

I agree it wasnt his best position, but it was his poor attitude that annoyed me.

Deflected meh goal, the goalscorers are being interviewed on italian tv now. AquilanI looks really uncomfortable on tv, and I can't speak italian so I've no idea what he's on about.

*edit: he was just asked some stuff about liverpool and they had a little giggle, so expect more mundane quotes

He looked very comfortable to me...They asked him if he received a good offer from Italy would he consider it. He said yes of course but that LFC had to accept the offer first and he would not have a problem staying at Liverpool.

Yea he was fine when he was talking I just thought he was a bid fidgety and nervous looking before he was spoken to.

Seems like the standard politically correct answer, I hope he means the happy to stay bit. Cassano has a future in tv alright

Aquilani: "I'm calm. People (Aldridge) talk a lot of rubbish about me. It's not true that LFC aren't giving me a chance.
I feel like they appreciate me."

Aquilani: "I'm at a big club, I'd love to stay and play. But the market closes Aug 31. We'll see."
