Last I remember, there were a few posters in and around the Austin area, not sure if there are anymore, but if so, are any of y'all are interested in getting together somewhere occasionally for matches.

Today the premier league live show was in Austin, and it put the notion in my head.

Anybody in Austin area interested in anything like this?

Any and all thoughts are welcome.
 
Yeah, I made it as well, it was fun.

And I am not as much of a MAGA as it may appear, maybe a little though.
 
You know, it's really not that hard to imagine people with varying economic and political backgrounds being drawn together by a club like Liverpool. Isn't that what sport is all about anyway, uniting people despite their differences?

I just drove past a little house in Boise, Idaho that was flying a huge Liverpool flag in the front yard. I've raised my 4 sons as both avid Reds and thoughtful conservatives (yes, I know some will be triggered by that confluence).

Especially in Austin I'm sure there were plenty on both sides of the aisle at the viewing party.

Yes, to some extent, and over time football becomes increasingly secular, but this clubs history isn't an apolitical one and can't be divorced from the history of the city it grows in, so yeah, it's discordant.

I meant secular in terms of anything really mattering at all and it just being part of a giant ceaseless undifferentiated trough of shit that we all incidentally participate in for the benefit of someone richer. You know, like much of the rest of life.
 
I've no issue with conservative v Dems, and many of my friends are logical conservatives, but this MAGA fuelled alternate reality of "Fox news, deep state, follow my leader, no matter how bonkers he is", - naah no thanks - it's as more bonkers than Liberals who get outraged about every minor thing.

There's political differences which I can respect, but downight bonkerism, no thanks.

Speaking of which, I ended up in a room with the real and actual Alex Jones recently, at a kids birthday party. He was just at the same location. Plain bizarre.

Happy your enjoying yourself down there, though - Visited for a few days in July... It's very different to when I'd come down with the ex missus, back in the day.

Ideally, back home (Europe). And maybe split my time between there (spring, summer, late autumn) and here (winter)...

But the reality is I'll still have my girls, they just won't be living with me, and I wonder if I'll still want to live there (and so far from the girls) when the time actually arrives. If I do chicken out, back to Boston / Cape Cod area is highly likely.

Nice. yeah hard to be @ Home if they are here. You'd still miss them although when they go off to college they vanish for a while

I think I could do home if they'd come see me for the summer and I'd come back for a couple of months in the winter... I'll keep a place here, for them to call home (and me to use on my visits back). But the best laid plans, etc...

What brought you down here? And why haven't you changed your moniker appropriately yet?

Ha! Just got tired of the BIG BIG city thing, and the wife wanted to live somewhere warm. PLus it's a great spot.

I'll always be localny - for a few more years anyway! What part of DFW are you in? I have to head to Richardson/Plano for work sometimes.
 
I live right there, mate. Basically where Preston hits Arapaho. And I work at Plano Pkwy & Coit. Gimme a shout next time you're up...
