AVB sacked

Has he? From what I remember he did pretty well at Chelsea (in the days when Chelsea were a bit shit and weren't loaded) and Southampton, and I don't recall him being disastrous at Spurs.

Spurs could do a lot worse than getting Hoddle back. If you overlook the fact that he is weird then he is a decent manager.

It might work for a bit but I can see it being a bit Kenny like in that it will spark them to begin with but is based on nostalgia and is doomed in the long run.

So, get Hoddle!

ive seen a few spurs fans pondering whether rodgers would leave us if they went in for him. pretty funny.

Klinsmann has just taken the states to the world cup, they're in a horrible group but I'm not sure he'll go before then.

Yeah I know it is just a gut geeling nothing rational or anything. It would be possible for him to manage both though, kinda.

If I were Levy I'd consider making a move for Lambert, I like him.

Levy appears to be blameless in all this. I believe a number of times he has sacrificed team stability just so that he can sell players at a profit and appear as a tough negotiator. I maybe wrong here but I think one of the reasons Ramos completely bombed the start of the season was the sale of Berbatov and Keane with no proper replacement. Also he has hired and fired a significant number of managers. At some point shouldn't someone start questioning his footballing acumen from the perspective of hiring crappy managers and sales of players.

I've been having a look at 'The Fighting Cock' forum for a post match giggle. Most of the Spurs fans are of the same opinion as you @peekay in that Levy should take some blame. They also really hate (amazingly) Suarez as well! 😀

Yes, Levy's performance should be questioned, and in fact I've heard parts of phone-ins today in which just that kind of questioning has been coming in from Tottenham fans.

The glee with which we are greeting Spur's misery is understandable as it has been a long time coming, they've had a better team than we have for about 4 seasons.

Clearly They haven't got the balance right this time out and selling Bale has damaged them clearly but they have loads of good players... yesterday AVB gambled that the same team who rolled over against Hull would show up and so played a high line even with stand in players... We called his bluff...

I'm very glad the wheels have come off for them because they have a hell of a squad.

We have the best player in the league in Suarez, he was last year as well IMO, and by God he is some player but lets not kid ourselves about going for the league.

YES we should think big and aim high but beating a demoralised disjointed Spurs means fuck all.

Sterling was excellent yesterday but he is raw and too often loses the ball running straight into opponents, our defence has been patchy at best and we still lack the composure to play out from the back. We lack real depth in numerous areas and quality in some.

The best bit about yesterday, apart from the unbridled delight of fucking Spurs up on their own turf, was our midfield. Lucas played it simple, Allen was tidy and for once didn't shit himself, Hendo was just a beast...

but still 10 days ago we would all sit here bemoaning Lucas/Allen/Hendo/Gerrard et al...

I'm hoping the confidence that they can draw from yesterdays performance will help them play to their very maximum because for us to convert our slim chance of success into gold they really are going to have to bang on it like they were yesterday.

Well happy for them.

Yep, I've been saying this repeatedly, only a few Spurs fans I've come across agree with me, which is unsurprising given their average brain size. I'm no fan of AVB, but the situation they're in is primarily down to Levy, it wasn't AVB's decisions (of which he had few) in the summer which are to blame for their current poor form, it's Levy's and to a lesser extent Baldini's. Master negotiator my left ballsack, he's like an arrogant kid playing championship manager. Their club motto is Audere est Facere, I'm assuming that means delusions of grandeur, and Levy is embracing it with open arms.

Good post, mate. Many valid points.
We need a couple of additions in the January window which will not make us perfect but will put us in a stronger position to challenge in the 2nd half of the season.
We probably need a top class AM + a wide MF.

I would worry if Hoddle got the job.

Excellent coach. It would have been better for us if AVB had stayed.

Good post but I don't entirely agree. Spurs weren't *that* demoralised or disjointed before yesterday. We did that to them, and deserve more credit for it than you've given here. For sure we have to be careful not to go overboard, but we also have to be careful not to go to the other extreme.

Jamie Redknapp - "lets be honest after the job he did at chelsea he was lucky to get the tottenham job in the first place".

Butthurt about his father getting the sack?

I'm not too bothered now. I do dislike Tottenham, so want them to do badly out of spite, but at the same time, it would be useful in some ways to have another team out there that is capable of beating the big teams. That could be good for us as well.

For some reason lots of Spurs fans are hoping for Klopp - Or rather more realistically a Tim Sherwood/Stephane Freund combo 😀

Maybe, but he's also right in what he says there.

Probably, but he's not wrong, is he?

I'm not really sure, he was a succesful manager in Portugal, some on this forum wanted him to replace Dalglish even.
Sure it was somewhat of gamble by Spurs after his time a Chelsea, but I guess they felt they weren't really progressing fast enough with Redknapp.

So he was quite lucky then.

Huh?

Perhaps I'm a bit thick or simply missing some crucial information here, but what has Levy done wrong?

It seems to me that under his stewardship they've gone from being a fairly nothing midtable side to aspirational top 4 contenders without the help of a sugar daddy.
