Jol might work at Spurs, they need some stability and familiarity.

What familiarity? I think only Defoe, Dawson and Lennon remain from the Spurs teams he managed, and the backroom staff has got to have changed over the years with the different appointments.

"Andre Villas-Boas, gone but not forgotten (in the Spurs programme tonight)"

Jol seemed like a man just going through the motions at Fulham, it almost seemed like he wanted the sack and the nice pay off that goes with it.

All this Hoddle talk, i can see them resorting to him until the end of the season because Sherwood ain't gonna work and there ain't really anyone else at this moment.

If knows the club, the fans and the chairman, he would settle back in quite quickly.

They've won the league for 3 straight years since De Boar has been there. But it is a mickey mouse league.
He's only been a manager for 3yrs though, bit of a gamble if they go for him or Sherwood.....

However, Ferdinand has revealed the Portuguese boss gave Baldini his consent to spend a reported £100million in the transfer window, with many of the signings coming in for criticism so far this season
"Most of the signings were perhaps suggestions to him, but he agreed to those suggestions," Ferdinand told Beyond the Pitch.

So they're Baldini's players then. He picked them and signed them, but said to AVB 'would you like these players' and he'd obviously say yes.

Looks like De Boer has moved into favourite with all the bookies, he's 2/1 or 3/1 with most now, infront of Sherwood and Hoddle.

It is, but in their shoes I'd be tempted to take it with De Boer, who I think could do well in the Prem. Sherwood might, but it'd be a heck of a first job for him to be taking on a permanent basis.

Think De Boer deserves a bit more credit. Not saying he will fit the bill at Tottenham but

(1) Lost the likes of Alderweireld, Eriksen, van der Wiel, Anita, Vertonghen, Stekelenburg, de Zeeuw and Suarez over the years and I think his most expensive signings is Kolbeinn Sigporsson €4.5 million.

(2) The Dutch Eredivisie not the strongest of league when compared to the other European leagues but its fairer to look at picture domestically rather than judge Ajax on their history. Won the last 3 titles by (2010/11) 2 more points than Twente, (2011/12) 6 more points than Feyenoord, (2012/13) 7 more points than PSV and gap between Champions and 3rd placed team has never been more than 7 points in the past 3 seasons.

(3) Bringing through young players, which I would presume is his brief. The team that beat Barca 2-1 at Amsterdam Stadium in November had an average age of 22.7 yo. Of the starting 11, only keeper Cillessen (from NEC) and Hoesen (from Fulham) were signings. The other players all progressed through the academy.

(4) Style of play (despite having to bring through young players and guaranteeing results to win title)

Hoddle would be my choice if I were a spurs fan. Such a waste of a great manager IMO. He should be in top PL job of next England manager.

are you being serious? how long has the guy been out of the game? last time I heard he was training failed trainees in spain.

I can't really remember anything he did as a manager, why do you think he is a great manager ?

He is with FA now.

His england team was the best I've ever seen. If it wasn't for that Eileen shite I honestly think his England would have reached a final.

I think he would be class.

Didn't he have spurs on the verge of relgation last time he managed them? With someone stepping in to turn the season around, Pleat?

I get going back to a manager who has done well, but a former failure? Really?

Hoddle's friends in the media are skewing opinion on him massively. I hope they do appoint him.

He talks a good game, like Souness on sky....

What I found funny was one newspaper reported that a particular website was announcing that Hoddle would make himself available for the job.

Then they pointed out Hoddle owned half of the company behind the website

Hoddle managed to get chelsea and spurs and southampton mid table repeatedly when he was a manager, I'd be over the moon if Spurs went for him.

[article=http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/449844/Ex-Man-Utd-and-Real-Madrid-man-Queiroz-is-desperate-to-land-the-Spurs-job]FORMER Manchester United and Real Madrid coach Carlos Queiroz has spoken of his desire to be appointed as the new manager of Tottenham.

The Portuguese is currently Iran's manager and has lead them to the World Cup in Brazil, but he still isn't popular with football fans in the country and is widely rumoured to be leaving after the tournament.

He had two stints at United under Sir Alex Ferguson, during the 2002/3 season and from 2004 to 2008.

Queiroz has also had roles with Portugal, South Africa, Sporting CP and Real Madrid.

When asked if he wanted the job at White Hart Lane, Queiroz said: "Absolutely.

"Tottenham is a club I really appreciate a lot and I have great admiration.

"One of my coaching dreams is to get back to English football.

"I was very happy in Manchester. It was the most happy and outstanding football period of my career."

With managers distancing themselves from the role it will be a relief for Spurs fans to hear someone is interested.

Mauricio Pochettino, Michael Laudrup and Frank de Boer have all ruled themselves out of contention as the search goes on.[/article]

That was a pretty good England team though and he had them playing some good stuff, it was hell of a performance v the Argies with 10 men for so long, they deserved to win really but nothing went for them.
