Balancing the MF?

I think games are won and lost in MF, we definitely had the bets MF last year and we won the league. However this year its been shit. Alex has been very disappointing and Grav has been picking the extra payload as a result. Dom is playing everywhere and Wirtz is still taking baby steps to adapt to the league. CJ is at best a bench option, and Endo is doing what all the players that have seen their best days behind them do, sit on the bench. Badge has caught an STI from Naby, which is the only plausible explanation why the Bastard is still recovering from an injury.
What would you do if you were Slot?

I haven't commented on these posts dissing Endo lately but I just don't get it. He was a fucking boss in klopps last season and since then he's had five minutes here and there. How did everyone suddenly decide he's shit? Because the mekon thinks so? I'm not having it. Also CJ did more in fifteen minutes in a proper mid role than Mc has managed for months.

Endo should have been replaced in the summer.
He didn't look good against Southampton in the cup, but in his defence, it's hard to look good when you barely get any game time. Meaning zero match fitness.

Agree on Endo. At least give him a go at it.

CJ is shit unfortunately. Bring back Harvey, at the very least he might be able to nurse Salah back to form.

For the time being I think we're best using Wirtz as floating wide player who interchanges. The midfield of Szobo, Grav and Mac Allister is tried and tested but if Mac/Grav don't find better form then Jones and Endo should be getting more opportunities. Gomez and Ramsay need to be the only players playing RB. Slot persisting with midfielders at RB has reduced our opportunity to fix the midfield and mitigate Mac Allisters huge drop off. Any time Wirtz plays in a ten role then we really do need to be mitigating that with Endo and Szobo holding things behind him.

Klopp's gone and Slot's here and I can't remember a standout performance from Endo (granted my memory is terrible). However, this thread is about what you would do? Do you think Endo should take over from Alex until he regains his fitness? Will it stop us losing games?

I don't know because I'm not the coach. I do know that Endo was a great performer for Klopp and I haven't seen him since. I know that Quansah was above Ibou in the pecking order as he was the best young centre half in the world by any measure. I'm not saying that things didn't change as I'm not party to what goes on behind the scenes, but I do think there are questions to be asked. I do think we shouldn't assume the correct conclusions were drawn.

I think Endo would be a great option in games where we need to sacrifice an attacker for a DM to rebalance our team. Feels even more important if we have two ultra attacking full backs. He is a different type of DM to Gravy, and is one who would cover ground to fill gaps, break up play, make interceptions.

In the long awaited and needed 442 Diamond he could be a useful DM.

Similar thoughts for Tyler Morton who is currently doing great at Lyon in France

We're linked to Camavinga, which would really add grit and balance to the MF imo.

That would leave us overloaded though. If Wirtz continues as the AM, Szobo, Mac and Gravenberch would be fighting for one MF spot. I don't see Slot changing the shape much.

It seems unlikely but maybe swapping Mac for Camavinga would work. I think Real have sniffed around before. I do think Macs form is temporary though and maybe to do with becoming a new Dad.

i don’t want to shit on anyone’s endo love because the idea of him is great and he seems like a model pro etc but yea any time i’ve seen him recently he looks at least a level below the others on the ball.

i saw a comment earlier that liverpool need less top hats and more hard hats. might be true and that’s endo i suppose but slot wants better on the ball and at almost 33 that’s pretty ancient for a dm in the pl. i think that’s why the focus keeps drifting to badger who we haven’t seen kick a ball in an ice age 😂

Endo isn’t the long term answer to our woes.
