I bet on a red card being shown in yesterdays derby at 'avg. odds' of 3.45, which was matched.

My stake was £5.

Why is it that I only won ~£12?

Surely I should get my stake of £5 back plus an additional £15 odd quid.

I think you should get 17 odd quid back less commission. Are you sure the average odds weren't 2.45? I think the odds were about that, which is why you only got 12.

Yep, looks like it. You were wrong in the original post in that you don't get your stake back on top, but still looks a fiver short.

Just reread this, if you meant in the first post that you got 12 profit, then its right. You put on 5 at 3.5, you should end up with 17 something in your account.

How difi is to open an account? If I only want to bet once on something? Is there a way to avoid all the registration hassle?

I want to put 20 quid on Schumacher winning at Spa. It's his 300th grand prix... On Mercedes current form that's probably money wasted, but the old bugger could yet spring a surprise, as he usually does in Spa?

Probably not worth your while KJ if it's just for the one bet. It's not overly difficult to open an account though but you'll have to give them a fair amount of detail as they like to be 100% sure who everyone is to avoid any betting scams, match fixing etc.

When is the race? The current price is 43/1 but there's only a couple of quid available at that price....this will obviously change nearer the time.

I think three weeks from now....
Let me know what you're doing about it then because if you don't register then I can stick £20 on for you and post you a cheque when he wins (or do the paypal thingy if I can remember my details) and you can send me the money if he doesn't win?

Oh that would be great... If it isn't too much trouble? Do you have a PayPal account? I can transfer to you...

I have a paypal account but it's that long since I used it I need to see if I can find my details. If not I'll use one of my brothers' paypal accounts. I'll let you know nearer the time.

3.45 includes your original stake back. E.g. if you bet £5 at 2.0 you would have £10 back in your account. at 3.0 you would have £15 back in your account. So at 3.45 it would be about 17.50 which is 12.50ish of profit.
