Big Andy

If Rodgers isn't going to play him for the majority of our games as he tries to bed in his system, then why not reduce the wage bill and give Carroll game time elsewhere so we can offload him for a fee closer to what we paid. (As I've no doubt he'd do well on loan and raise his value).

It was also open the door for some of our fringe players to get more time on the bench/pitch.

I just would not like to see Carroll stay and get 15 minutes every second week.

As for playing him against Utd, yes I think he could do well and a win against them would give Rodgers a lot less pressure in the opening months so ya.

Dreamy if Carroll is our answer for defeating Manchester United, we could probably do with him for other games as well.

For old time's sake....

There is nothing wrong with picking on your opponent's weakest spot.
You're right

But saying we should loan Andy out after we've just used him (to alleged great effect) is borderline special needs.

Sell or keep. Fuck loan.

Dreamy. Everton won not because they pumped long balls up to a target man

Ferguson:

"Fellaini is a handful. He is a big, tall, gangly lad and they just lumped the ball forward to him. That's all they did. They worked from that base all the time and they got a goal from him, so it's justified."

Thats Fergie just belittling their performance there Doc. There was FAR more about them than that. Pienaar and Osman caused constant threat from the wide areas too.
It was by no means hoof and hope. Fergie is just a po faced cunt who couldnt just say 'the better team won'

I know that! But Ryan adores him, and I was hoping the internal conflict would result in some sort of embolism. You just fucked it the hell up.

Fergie's a twat, anyone who sympathises with the cunt or constantly looks to see his view point really doesn't 'get it'. As I've said a million times before, it's not uber-cool, it's not seeing things from outside the box (nor outside Liverpool). It's not GETTING IT.

It raised a smirk, and almost had me reaching for the keyboard too, but Oncy ruined it for you.

Newcastle United will not raise their £12m offer for Andy Carroll and insist it is up to Liverpool whether they want to keep an unhappy player they do not have a role for or grant him his wish to return to Tyneside.

Carroll is desperate to return to the club where he emerged as one of the best young centreforwards in the country and Newcastle would love to welcome him back.

But owner Mike Ashley is adamant Liverpool have to accept they vastly overpaid for the 23-year-old when they signed him for a British record £35m in January last year and that Newcastle’s offer reflects his proper market value.

Newcastle would like to initially sign Carroll on loan, with a view to a permanent move, but could be persuaded to pay the £12m in one lump now if Liverpool reopen negotiations.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers would like Carroll’s future to be resolved as soon as possible so he has time to sign a replacement.

Carroll has been warned he will not be first-choice should he remain at Anfield as he does not fit into Rodgers’ preferred style of play.

That would potentially jeopardise his place in Roy Hodgson’s England squad, but the attempted brinkmanship has done little to strengthen Liverpool’s negotiating position.

Carroll has rejected a move to West Ham United, leaving the club he so badly wants to return to as the only one to have made an offer and with time running out, Rodgers must decide whether to take what he can or make the best of a bad situation.

BRENDAN Rodgers says he'd be a 'nut case' to let Andy Carroll leave Liverpool on the cheap. Whilst still accepting
Carroll is unlikely to ever fit into the playing style he hopes to implement at Anfield, necessity means he can't afford to lose the £35m man without replacements coming in first.
Carroll is likely to start at Hearts tonight and Rodgers said: “I need a minimum of three strikers. Once the window shuts, that is it until January.
“I have got Luis Suarez, Fabio Borini and Andy Carroll.
“I would need to be a nut case to even consider at this moment to let Andy Carroll go out, unless there are other solutions for that. At the moment there isn’t.
“Andy has been working well. He knows the situation, like the rest of the group do and we will take it from there.”
Asked about a possible loan deal, Rodgers said: “Absolutely no chance – and certainly not to Newcastle.
“Newcastle got £35m for this player last year. To even consider wanting to take him on loan is a liberty really.
“It is all speculation. I would be here all night if I was to answer questions on speculation, but we have got a very small squad as it is.
“We have lost a lot of players this summer and I hope we will be able to bring some in. I had a target list of players I wanted.
“That was always conditional because of the monies that had been paid out here.
“The club is working very hard behind the scenes to manage that process to allow us to get some players in, but in terms of depth, it’s nowhere near where I would want it to be.
“I can’t wave a magic wand to bring players in and get players out.
“There is still a wee bit of time left and hopefully come the end of August we will be ready to go on with the group that we want.”
Carroll picked up a minor injury in training this week, but Rodgers is convinced he will start against Hearts.
“We need to have a look at Andy," he added. "He is due to start but he has felt a slight twinge, so we have had it looked at and scanned. If he is available and then fit, he will start.”
Teenage striker Raheem Sterling could also be handed his first Liverpool start with Suarez - and skipper Steven Gerrard - having been rested for the trip to Tynecastle.

I'd understand why Rodgers would want rid of Carroll if we had other strikers capable of scoring goals on a regular basis.

We have Suarez, who's a class act, brilliant little player but his finishing isn't the best to put it nicely.

Then there's Borini who's still unproven and doesn't guarantee 15+ goals a season.

I just think it would be madness to get rid of Carroll unless we've got 2 strikers lined up in this transfer window, highly doubt that's likely.

christ ...another season of watching "Big Andy" lump around up front .
