Big D vs Twitter

So it seems you're allowed to make jokes about shooting homeless people (as long as you give a half-hearted apology afterwards), but if you make any joke about Kirk or the current government then you're cancelled.

Almost nobody on the left cares about free speech, but almost all people who care about free speech are left wing.

It's a testament to how truly mental the left went during the "woke" era that free speech ever came to be seen as a right wing cause.

I said it before and felt as of last Aug, what’s going on US and now, it is. Hiding behind free speech and flags it defo currently is. However, minorities who are supporting this movement also have no idea definition of “illegals” will change very quickly in western world. For e.g. Tommy Singh is safe now he may think…

Seems like cancel culture has morphed into consequence culture.

Every action has a reaction.

I agree with the minority bit ...

Interesting, do you think a 1940s Germany is on the way? And in what sense, if so?
I do.

I think that he's doing everything that evil cnut did back then, to establish ultimate & irrevocable power now, legally.

He's created a common enemy for the unwashed masses who believe his shite. He's denigrating scientists and teachers, and anybody who speaks up against him. He's already working on shutting down any media that doesn't support him. He's gerrymandering state voting maps to make it mathematically impossible for democratic elections to actually happen. Texas just passed laws that makes any election irrelevant. We already know that he cannot lose.

He's pardoned 100% of the Jan 6th insurrectionists. He's just put into motion a new law that will require ALL 50 states to recertify themselves as legally entitled to certify election results. And guess who's in charge of approving that recertification...? So, bottom line, he will soon be LEGALLY entitled to reject the election results of ANY state, for ANY reason.

He's normalized political violence. He's normalized masked police snatching citizens off the streets without cause or identification. He's ignoring the constitution. He's breaking any governmental rule that doesn't suit his needs. He's pandering to Putin. He faked his own assassination attempt, ffs. It's only a matter of time before he declares martial law practically everywhere.

He'll NOT accept any election results that show anything but landslide victories for him and his cronies. Regardless, by then, he'll have invented a reason to justify staying on, that will all have stemmed from what he's doing today. He'll deport millions of legally documented citizen, continue to promote ignorance and misogyny and his political opponents will systematically disappear.

He WILL NOT give up power in 3 years. He tried not to 5 years ago, remember? Only reason he gave it back then was because the Joint Chiefs refused his direct orders to surround the White House and serve him in his military coup. By the time the middle third of this population realizes what their apathy and laziness has allowed to happen (by not voting against it), it'll be far too late. It already is. Losing last year sealed this country's fate.

And his base will never believe anything other than he's the 2nd coming... He could literally murder their best friends, and these cretins would instantly excuse him. Not enough people realize just how fucked this place is now, and how increasingly dangerous life is going to be over here from here on out.

I remember asking Mam why the rest of the world didn't stop what happened in the 30's, when I was a child. 'Because they didn't know until it was already too late' was her answer. Well, we don't have that excuse this time around... We're watching him dismantle the democratic process in front of our eyes, and people are too spineless, too dumb, or too invested to stop it.

And then, in 3 years, they'll all go "We didn't see this coming...".

Fuck right off with that bullshit. I've been telling you all this for 10 years now. And I'm not alone. People just don't want to listen.

This whole Jimmy Kimmel row is half-terrifying and half-hilarious.

The guy simply did not say what everyone is getting outraged about. He was saying the MAGA reaction to the murder was to desperately claim it was done by someone other than MAGA. Whether people like it or not, that just isn't the same thing as saying that a MAGA person DID do it.

You might question WHY he chose to say what he did, and what he was implying. But you can't claim he actually said a different thing entirely. It's crazy.

It's pitiful. and soooooo fucking transparent.

He said NOTHING about Charlie Kirk. He said what PH posts above and then he played a clip of just how truly upset the orange cnut is about it (when asked about how he felt about it, he started talking about how beautiful the new ballroom is going to be). There was NO direct discussion of CK.

That's what got him fired. That, and the fact that this administration has the last approval (or not) in a multi-billion dollar merger coming up in the TV world very shortly. Disney need to do as their told by this cnut, or they'll not get the approval they need.

Meanwhile, last week, one of the Fox News channel's major mouthpieces called for the homeless problem in the US to be cured by 'involuntary lethal injection... I dunno... Just kill them', live on national TV, to 10s of millions watching, and nothing happened to him. Nothing. Oh, and a few days later, a homeless man was lynched in Mississippi, by the way.

But that's clearly just a coincidence.

That's the part I don't understand.

What do these people get from Trump? I mean, if you look at what happened in Germany with people being unemployed, poor, their country stripped of important resources by WWI peace treaties and not able to find its feet economically, etc - they were desperate. And Hitler brought them work by arming the country, building highways and so on. So people actually had the chance to benefit from this and so were willing to look the other way.

But what do these MAGA supporters gather from Trump? I mean, it's only getting worse for them too?

False promises of a better future, tapping into their desperate hope?

Why do Americans vote for Trump?

Did that as a Google AI search:

"Voting for Donald Trump is motivated by a wide range of factors, including economic concerns, immigration policy, cultural issues, a desire to challenge the political establishment, and perceptions of his leadership style. Research shows that Trump's support comes not from a single group but from a diverse coalition of voters with varying priorities and backgrounds."

It then references data from multiple websites including the BBC with breakdowns of the reasons. Pretty easy to find.

Now whether it's a good or bad thing is a value judgment. Then again I'm not American so it makes no difference what I think especially on the interweb in a different country.

Mostly The Repulican party is guilty of providing this prick with a plattform now this second time. Of course Dems are also useless not finding another candidate than Joe Biden.

My take on him is that he's used a fairly simple message of, bringing jobs back to the country, cutting out waste, and stopping others taking advantage of the US. It's hard to argue with those things, and he's actually taking action(whether it's effective or the right things or not is debatable) that looks like it's at least trying to do those things. It's allowed him to then do other things, as the US has become so polarised, that you can only be on one side or the other, so, if you're OK with those key messages, you'll just go along with, or ignore, anything else.

Do people really need an explanation of why Trump gets votes? He's a populist. He's direct, aggressive, talks tough on immigration, flouts political correctness, blames foreigners for the loss of manufacturing jobs etc. It's a simple, appealing message for simple, somewhat disadvantaged voters.

I mean you could say its the same as Farage's appeal really

There's a great line in the Woody Allen film (yeah I know) Hannah and Her Sisters where one of the characters (played by the great Max von Sydow) has been watching TV evangelists during the afternoon and observes "If Jesus came back and saw what was being done in his name, he'd never stop throwing up". That was nearly 40 years ago, and it gets more true every day under this administration.

One of my favourite films ever that, loved it since I was a kid. Don't think I've ever heard anyone mention it anywhere before, it really is a hidden gem.

Kimmel's monologue on his return is currently at 20 million+ views on Youtube. Instead of silencing him, Trump might have made him more popular.

Tango Man now talking about switching World Cup games from cities he deems to be unsafe. Don't worry, Infantino will be in the chat any minute, threatening to move the entire tournament to a more stable country if there's any political interference (which is absolutely what he should do).
Any minute now...

And he's also campaign to stop the boycott of Israel from the world Cup, hopefully they'll shit the bed and not qualify but it would be lovely to see if they made it and countries decide not to attend the world cup and half empty stadiums

Also Israel may get thrown out next week from UEFA/FIFA. Him and US have already voiced their power play against this.
