Bite, Nibble, Munch and Chomp

So a pretty good gauge on this, and most things, is to ask yourself what you'd think of this guy if he played for someone else?

You wouldn't be excusing him, you wouldn't be comparing it to other incidents to write it off, you'd just think he was a fucking dick who had something seriously wrong with him.

There is. He's fucked. Stop jumping to immediate defence default, and take a step back. He has bitten men on a football pitch 3 times. That's not normal, that's the act of a complete fucking moron. Imagine your son/brother/mate did that on a football pitch for the third time, you'd be having a fucking word. You wouldn't be standing there talking about how there are worse thing happening in the world, or about Alfe Inge Haaland. You'd be standing there thinking, Christ I'm related to (or mates with) a fucking tool.

And I don't buy this "yeah but he's our nutter" shit either, cos that just opens you up to excusing practically anything, and more importantly it makes you look like a naive, ignorant fool. What level of abnormality does he have to get to for you to actually stop excusing him? Cos if biting men on 3 different occasions isn't it, then I'm lost as to what is. If he played for fucking any other side in the world, you'd be calling this exactly like it is.

*shrug*

I'm a huge fan of Balotelli and Zlatan just for the crazy shit they pull. I loved Richard Sherman's TV rant as well, and thought Machado chucking his bat at a guy at 3B was hilarious.

Maybe I just love sports for the controversy, and the exaggerated righteousness it produces. But as far as entertainment value goes, watching the media storm and misinformed zealots go at it regarding this situation is bar none the best.

Maybe he was just hungry.

Do we know if he's being fed properly in Brazil?

Suarez must be feeling like shit now. This is going to ruin the rest of their tournament. Uruguay are rallying around him it seems but privately they must be pissed off.

As for Liverpool, I hope we don't get too involved. It happened on international duty and we should just leave Uruguay to deal with it till he becomes our problem again.

Like others, I found it amusing but am now starting to consider the repercussions. Silly boy.

If he's not banned for the rest of this World Cup I'd be completely staggered.

No doubt all the fucking saps in Uruguay will jump to his defence, but he's single-handedly fucked his country's prospects at the World Cup with that entirely selfish act. I hope he feels pretty bad about it, it's the least he deserves.

P.S. Watching him roll around holding his teeth in faux-pain was unbelievably cringeworthy too.

He may not get banned, no actual photos of the act, just a probable nibble, (laughing here at that phrase)

How people react or if they defended him is their own fucking business though isnt it?

For the record I'm not defending him, As I've said earlier he's a fucking moron for doing that and I'm just amazed he did it again. But at the same time I'm not that bothered either. He'll get an international ban and we'll deal with him internally and move on.
It wont be like that though thanks to the media. They'll fill their back pages with this for 2 months now forgetting about the WC even excisting.

They should be writing about the horrendous piece of piss of an International team called England, and the inept old owl that thinks the future looks brighter now than a few months ago. That doesnt sell newspapers though.

Should he get in trouble again while wearing the Liverpool shirt it will be over for him.

I bite my bird all the time. Sometimes things get heated, I get carried away and she loses an ear or sommat.
What the fuck ever. These things happen you bunch of pansies.

The difference is the psychological component. Biting does no physical harm, but it can make the other player feel offended for being reduced to an inhuman piece of poultry.

If you get your leg broken its a physical problem. Getting bitten is a mental one. Ivanovic is a dude who for not losing his head. Chielini reacted and got his entire team riled up, the resulting lack of focus cost them the game. Suarez wins.

He's gone from showing everything good about him as a footballer to everything bad in one game.

He had everyone eating out of the palm of his hand after the England game with everyone publishing those pictures of him celebrating with all that raw emotion and passion. It capped off an amazing season in which he more or less achieved what seemed impossible - redemption in English football. All of that has been wiped away now.

One article described his reaction at the end of the game as standing on the touchline looking a bit thoughtful as the rest of his teammates rushed off to celebrate... you gotta hate that sinking feeling of knowing you fucked up massively but not being able to do anything about it.

It's not really changed how I view him as a player though. We all know he's a bit nuts but he is a fucking great player and I hope he stays.

This is how I feel aswell. But at the same time I can understand if we accept 55-60 mill + Sanchez and move on.
If he leaves this incident will make it hurt less, at least for me.

I hope he stays though as he 's still top 2-3 in the world.

He's going to be public enemy no.1 next season, the press will have a field day, the opposing fans will boo him & chant at him ... and, in response, he will score a hattrick every match for us!

I know there will be a media shit storm over this but am I the only one who reckons it's not that bad? I'm with @gene hughes - Though. It's very funny.

It's not the worst thing that could happen on a football pitch, but given what's gone before it's a monumentally stupid thing to do, and could end up costing us. Again.

I'd be interested to see how it's gone down in Uruguay what with them being so dependent on him to do well in the tournament.

I haven't seen anyone justifying what Suarez did on here, I found it hilarious in a "you cant be fucking serious" way, but thought he was an utter prick, just like most people on here did. Its no worse than Zidanes headbutt, but no doubt he'll be banned for longer than the three games Zidane was, although as its a repeat offence, that it fair.

No one has defended him have they? Some people have laughed, some people have said they hope it doesn't mean he's banned for us, some said he's a nobhead, some hope he now gets sold, I don't think anyone really thinks this is kosher behaviour.

I'm sure it's ok to point out that the press are cunts & are waiting to lap this up, but lets face it, he's played right into their hands and put us in a difficult position, again.

Let's cut out this bollocks though where the forum gets painted as blind to his antics, it's a lazy assumption. People defended him against the Mancs because, well, it was the Mancs and everyone knows Fergie's aim was to fuck us over. I don't think many have defended the two biting incidents, people just take issue with the comparative treatment of different players. As mentioned earlier about the Ferdinand twitter comments, etc. It's ok to take offense to the inconsistencies of the Governing bodies, it's not paranoid reaction, I mean, have a look at the inconsistencies, have a look at what's gone on with Qatar.

I've got a feeling they're going to ban him from club football too. 6-12months ban, all comps

How is it anyone's instinct to go around biting people? I mean, what on earth possesses someone to do that? He's like a child.

We're watching grown men run around trying to make the little round thing go into the big rectangle thing so they can get shiny things. They play act, they try to get each other in trouble, they antagonize each other, they pout if they don't get their way, they always think they're right, they kick out, they pinch, they punch, they whine, they lie, and they fight. They're all fucking children. I'm not surprised Suarez bites. I'm surprised he's the only one who bites.

Shearer getting the boot in on telly now.

It was like this

Did you see when Lennon and Shearer were on TV together side by side and the first thing Lineker mentioned was that? One of the few times old jug ears has actually been amusing. Shearer actually blushed.

You could reduce any sport to those simple terms. Like I said, there are worse things that could happen on a football pitch, but it's just a bizarre thing to do, isn't it? I mean punching, kicking, headbutting - these are usually done in the heat of the moment, and usually in retaliation to something. Suarez was largely unprovoked, and looked like he knew what he was doing. After all, biting someone is not the easiest thing to do!
