ShareThe Times are reporting that Liverpool Director of Football Damien Comolli is looking to resurrect his interest in St Etienne holding midfield player Blaise Matuidi. Comolli worked with Matuidi in his previous position as Sporting Director at St Etienne and is keen to re-unite with the player at Anfield. According to the paper, the Reds are ready to move for the 23 year old French international but only after they have hopefully secured a certain striker signing in the next few days. Matuidi has been described as a combative defensive midfielder as well as a deep-lying playmaker.
 
I hate to be killjoy but he promised them that he wouldnt try to buy any of their players.
 
Is this a message to Blackpool that we have options in the transfer market other than Charlie Adam.

That is surely bollocks. He has a contract with Liverpool so whatever he said to St Etienne can get fucked. He has to act in our interests.

However, he has now ruled out any possibility of returning to his former employers on a buying spree, insisting he will honour his agreement with Les Verts coach Christophe Galtier not to disrupt the dressing room at Stade Geoffroy-Guichard.

“It makes a nice change to have some clarity from the shareholders. On a daily basis my work has become a lot easier.
“I would like to point out, though, that I told coach Christophe Galtier that I will not destabilise his changing room. I have made no contact with any St Etienne player.

He didn't say that the club or someone else at the club hadn't contacted any St Etienne player. He just said he hadn't.
