Loads of press reports (Telegraph/Mirror/even the mighty Metro) that Arbeloa is coming back. Surely only a good thing but a bit odd.

Alvaro Arbeloa is set to leave Real Madrid in January

The former Spain international is reportedly frustrated at his lack of game time this season, having started just five La Liga matches.

Real boss Carlo Ancelotti currently favours 23-year-old Dani Carvajal, who has done little wrong at right-back this term.

And according to sources in Spain, Arbeloa, 31, is hoping to jump ship before the transfer window closes in a bid to gain regular football.

Arsenal and Chelsea were heavily linked with a move for his services during the summer.

However, Arbeloa is reportedly favouring a return to Anfield, with Reds boss Brendan Rodgers looking to replace Glen Johnson.

The England full-back's contract expires at the end of the season, with Arbeloa seen as just a short-term solution due to his advancing years.

I'd take him, strange though to buy a player back to replace the player who initially replaced him..

Should never of sold himin the first place.. Madrid got a Bargain!!!

He gets a good shot at regular football again. We replace a departing international defender with another international who already knows the club - and who will apparently have turned down both the Chavs and the Arse in favour of coming to us, which in turn may help to give other players the idea that this isn't a bad destination for them.
 
This cant be happening? We'd actually improve our right back situation.

Haven't watched him lately, he still any good? I always liked him and i'd be made up if it meant henderson wasnt at wing back ever again
 
A good solid player for us when he was here and it was a shame he left, but that ship has sailed......no thanks.
