It's probably just me, but he inspires me with more confidence than Mignolet ever does. He's not as good a shot stopper as Mignolet is, however he knows how to make a decision and stick to it. If Mignolet doesn't up his game in the league, I wouldn't be opposed to Jones getting a game or two.

I'd rather see him in goal until we buy a decent keeper. Mignolet is the worse keeper we've had for many a year.

There's so little rapport between Mingolet and his centre backs I bet he orders a sweet when they order a savoury, and vice versa. They should be sent off to a corner of Melwood and told to stay there until they get at least one set piece defended properly without one of them falling over/staring at the others/knocking the ball in their own net.

I actually agree. Not that Jones is the answer, far from it but he's really not that bad. In terms of dealing with crosses and handling in general, I'd far rather Jones.

Mignolet, however struggling, is a miles better keeper than Jones.

Quite how we ended up with these two as our choice of keepers going into the season, having spent 100m+ in the summer, I'll never know.

Jones distribution is bollocks though. It's a coin toss as to who's better and deserves a start at the moment. We need better than both.

For the little bit of game time Jones has had with Liverpool, the amount of howler's he's had is huge.

Ming all day.

I know it's like a stuck record, but Jones would be a much better number 2 if he actually played the odd reserve game. He was so rusty yesterday in the first half it was almost comical - he couldn't even pass the ball out accurately to his left back. It's bizarre in this supposedly meticulous era. in which every single detail is analysed and assessed, that keeping the back up keeper in a semi-retired state is still regarded as a really smart way of (a) maintaining pressure on the first choice (how exactly - by sitting aggressively on the bench?) and (b) keeping the number 2 sharp enough to step up at any moment.

For the money he cost, Jones has been a good servant to the club and a good back up keeper. He also went through the hell of losing a child while he played for us.

When he comes in he's generally no fuss. He does a job and gets good games overlooked, unremarkable ones taken as standard and bad ones taken as confirmation of someone's greater footballing knowledge, that he's "just a shit keeper Hodgson bought".

£2.3m and still here four years later, that's longer served and less money in transfer fees than Kirkland, Carson and Cavielleri or whatever his fucking name was.

I like him, he's a good guy and as a squad player/back up player, he's been a good buy and a solid, no complaints stand in.

Whereas on the contrary, Mignolet's distribution is excellent.

I love watching our boys at the back piss about with the ball, nice little pretty triangles between Skrtel, Lovren and Mignolet, culminating in our fantastic number one (after having the spectators hearts in their mouths for a good while), boots it 20 yards to whoever the opposition winger is.

What do you mean "WHAT"?

Jones has had countless howlers in his time at Liverpool in only a handful of games. Are you seriously saying Jones should be our first choice keeper?

So's Mignolet! For four/five times the price. And no I'm not saying he should be first choice, I'm saying he deserves more respect. It's also fair to point out that the bad games he has had have been behind equally bad, half-cocked sides in cup games.

I can't be precise but I'd bet my house if there was a "goalkeeper howlers per game" stat, Jones would be way ahead of Ming.

Yeah ok. Howlers are genuine, bonafide fuck ups that are easy to recall, I can recall more by Mignolet than Jones, but if we're going to do a "per game" stat, then that's boss and obviously defeats my argument hands down, because the cunt never plays!

Haha. I just read my post again. I meant "howlers to games ratio"

I just think he gets unnecessary stick half the time. Unless you're Chelsea with two genuine massive talents vying for the spot, then we're pretty much the same as everyone else, we've got a number one and a back up. As back up we could be doing alot worse, and how can people not have some love for the guy after everything he's been through and with such an endearing attitude? 4yrs he's managed with us so far, fair play.

Definitely can't fault his attitude.

I also probably sounded a lot harsher than I meant too.

I don't think I've ever heard you be harsh really, and I'm an over-reactive cunt anyway!

I think everyone is agreed though, Mignolet either needs competition or shipping.

Id agree with that. Valdes mightn't be such a bad idea.

As for me being harsh, you clearly haven't read any of my posts where Glen Johnson was being discussed [emoji23]
