I think you could make a case for anyone on that list excluding Garcia who isnt better than Coutinho/Firmino or Mane.
Carragher or Hyppia would be a massive improvement as would Pepe. Riise was a brilliant left back and we havnt had it as good since.
People seem to forget how good Torres was until he had his injuries, he was devastating. Xabi obviously controls that tempo and its one thing we missed badly.
Suarez was arguably the best in the world for 2 years there and did wonders for us, although I disagree with the carried us remark. The season we almost won Sterling, Sturridge and Gerrard were also brilliant.
Gerrard between about 2004 and 2009 though for me was the best midfielder in the world. If we had him now and signed no one else our team would be infinitely better than it is.
Im quite surprised Suarez is ahead in the poll given how short a time frame he was unbelievable for us for. Not that he wasnt of course.
It would always be Gerrard for me.
He made Torres, Sturridge, Suarez etc look even better than they were, whilst banging in 20 a season from midfield and single handedly winning trophies.

If you take the 'in their prime' bit seriously, then any other choice but Gerrard is madness. You only needed to look at that friendly the other week in Australia - he was instantly linking up with Firminho with an instinctive understanding. He homes in on real talent like a heat-seeking missile. Aside from what he could do as an individual, he also had that exceptional ability to engage with other talent and forge a new key relationship in the side. Torres, Suarez, especially - Gerrard could work them out, understand their game, speed up their development and enhance their achievements. Choose Gerrard and you'll have someone who'd improve the team simply through his own ability, but also energise all the other top talents in the team.

I cannot believe Suarez got twice the number of votes as Gerrard. Even if we developed the technology to bring back prime Suarez, he would be agitating for a move to Barcelona, Arsenal by the end of the year.

Of course I'd have Gerrard back. But our current issue is in defence. I picked based on the current issue not just who I thought was best.
