Charlie Adam

A hearty fuck off to poor old Holloway.

Charlie would have been worth 4M back when Kenny was last Liverpool's manager, eh?

I wonder if he means the same period of time when 900K brought John Barnes to Liverpool the month before we spent a whopping 1.9M on Peter Beardsley?

4m for a 4 year old is a little steep

Someone on Five Live pointed out that Holloway himself has just offered Plymouth the princely sum of £50,000 for Bradley Wright-Phillips.

Hoist with his own petard, or what?

The financial concern for Holloway isn't what we're offering, it's his pay cap. He can't say a player is worth 15m quid and then pay him half a million a year. That's not how it works.

But Holloway is acting in his and the club's best interests. Logic doesn't come into it. A player with Adam's current CV is worth 10m quid in the current market. He's also worth a couple of million a year in wages. Blackpool can't offer him the latter.

On this season's form BWP would be worth at least £200,000 and probably nearer £300,000.

This is right.

Blackpool will find it very very hard to replace Adam. He is a 10 million+ player on their books for a mere half a million a year wage. Therefore it is no surprise that they are acting up the way they are.

For what it's worth, i think Charlie Adam is better than Tom Huddlestone and i would not be disappointed at all to have him in the squad. But it's not a pressing need right now. We are in more dire need of a DM or a LB. This is a deal, we can afford to do in the summer. We should say as much to Adam's agent and Blackpool's representative. The ball will be in their court. If they want to do a deal now, it will have to be on our terms.

I still remember how we got fucked over by Barca, when we were in a similar position. I'd hope we can do the same to a lesser club.

I don't think he is worth 10M.

He's not some 20 year old rising wonder kid with bags of untapped potential. He's a 25 year old journeyman who has only had 6 good months in the top division and finally been able to deliver on some of his early promise. What's more, come the summer he'll only have a year left on his contract.

5M is more than fair.

Yup, i don't think anyone is saying we should pay 10 million though.

5 to 6 million would be a fair price given the circumstances. If we wait 6 months we can probably get him for even lesser, if he really wants to play for Kenny. But, the problem is, he would demand a higher pay if there are more clubs interested in him.
So it will probably even out.

But it's not hard to see that he has the talent to command a 10 million fee under different circumstances.

How did he end up at Blackpool anyway? Was he not wanted at Rangers?
[/quote]

No. He spent years on loan.

It's been confirmed that Adam has put in a transfer request.

Good stuff. He has also confirmed he wants to play for Liverpool.

I want him. I think he'll be a bit "gay".

I don't really want him. I think he'll be a bit meh.

I don't know enough to make that call. He's very good for Blackpool but they build everything around him. He's one of the best passers of a ball in the prem this season, and I think it's good that we're buying a player for that skill when we have Torres still looking for Alonso, and not some shit-for-brains like Poulson or Lucas.

Is he better than Lucas, Poulson and Spearing ? Yes is the most likely answer and thus it improves our squad. Plus he looks deadly from set pieces. Shelvey is still young and improving. At the right price, he's a good addition.

Apparently he's actually handed in a transfer request now.

It's oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooon

Sooooo....

------Meireles--Adam-------
----------Gerrard-----------
------------Torres-----------

Or

To be honest, I cant see any other 'top' side going in for him.

If he we don't get him now, I'd imagine we'd get him in the summer for even less than £5M, so I think sooner or later they'll accept our offer, begrudgingly.

Who fucking cares if we do or do not sign this fat jock?

Fuck me. A 25 year old who failed in Scotland and has spent his career trawling the lower leagues has a few decent months and ACTUALLY passes forward and we are excited about his possible 5m transfer. Its another fucking mediocre squad type of transfer.

He'd be an improvement on what we have, but is not worth the risk for more than 5m. If we can't get him I'm not bothered.

A fair(ish) point - I said earlier he's had a good half season. If we do sign him only time will show if he can handle the expectations. I can't say I've watched him that much this season. A few Rangers fans thought he was poo. Some Blackpool fans think he's the best player to have played for them in the last 35 years. Think my cousin played with him at Ross County - I'll bell him get his opinion

I think that is a tad harsh Oncey, he must be statistically one of the best ten midfielders in the country this season and from what I have seen of him this he has been very good.
He is better than a large percentage of our squad, which as Sunny says is a good enough reason for signing him , OK it may not say a lot for him, but he knows the prem and should hit the ground running and like a lot of foreign signings not take half a season to bed in.
