Adam's a decent enough player, but we really should be aspiring for better and I can't help but feel that someone in Spain would represent much better value for money.

We've said for years we need to be less defensive at home, but there's no way many managers would play Adam and Gerrard in the middle of the park in a two. Adam lacks the engine and stamina, while Gerrard lacks the discipline. We've seen it down the years with Gerrard and a less than defensive-minded midfield partner, it rarely works, despite their quality.
Ideally it would be something like:

If we signed Adam and a DM we'd have 4 players(+Lucas) fighting for 3 starting spots. I feel even if he wouldn't be a guaranteed starter he, like all 4 of them, would play a lot of games so there mightn't be so much of a problem there.

Chelsea treated alot of players like shit, like City are now, they bought them essentially to stop other teams buying them and to have a huge depth in their squad, but as we've seen it doesn't always work out that way. I would still love Adam here, although he's potentially a luxury.
We need that man to shield the back four and spray the ball about to the widemen.
Therefore width and a dm should the priorities for the club this summer. Suarez is showing he's more than happy to go out wide when needed but we need some full time quality out wide desperately.
