Charlie Adam

SCOTLAND star Charlie Adam joined his bride-to-be Sophie Leigh-Anderson on a 500-mile round trip to get her HAIR done.

Sophie, 21, spent more than seven hours on the road with Liverpool ace Charlie so she could visit Glasgow celebrity salon Taylor Ferguson.

But the former Miss England contestant reckoned the journey from their Merseyside home was worth it to have her hair extensions replaced and shaped into a glamorous Cheryl Cole style.

Later she tweeted: "Just been to Taylor Fergusons in Glasgow for my hair! ... Love it! The staff were so welcoming — my favourite salon!"

Sophie has been dating former Rangers midfielder Charlie since 2009.

The Dundee-born player has praised his sweetheart for helping him feel "settled" away from the pitch.

And his reported £60,000 weekly wages at Anfield would easily cover the cost of the extensions — usually around £800.

A pal of the couple said: "Charlie would do anything for Sophie. If she wanted to travel to the moon for her hair he'd ask when she wanted an appointment."

Taylor Ferguson has looked after a string of stars like Girls Aloud singer Sarah Harding and Rod Stewart's missus Penny Lancaster.

Charlie-Adam-Passing-Stats.jpg

It is no surprise that Adam attempted more of what Opta describe as ‘long passes’ per game for Blackpool (12.94) than he has done since his move to Anfield (7.29). When looked at overall, long passes made up 24.06% of all passes attempted by Adam during the 2010-11 campaign, but only 12.96% of those he has attempted in a Liverpool shirt. If nothing else, it seems that his move up the footballing ladder has instilled within him the importance of keeping the ball as much as possible. His long pass accuracy has also shot up, from 50.33% at Blackpool to 65.69% at Liverpool.

His possession duel success rate has certainly risen since his time at Blackpool. He is involved in fewer duels (an average of 11.64 per game at Liverpool compared to 15.89 at Blackpool) but is winning more of them.

A perhaps surprising statistic on the face of it, is that during Blackpool’s Premier League campaign, Adam has passed into the final third of the pitch on average 13.83 times per game. At Liverpool that has fallen to an average of 10 times per game.

The number of shots that Adam has taken has also dropped, unsurprisingly given that he is getting forward less often.

I wonder where he drives her to get her spray tan.

I believe Adam has got the potential to be a top-notch midfielder for this club.

Not since the days of Alonso have we had a player with same range and vision (Gerrard aside) and as he's even more mobile than ol Xabi he's got something different to offer as well.

He needs to be more assured on the ball, more Alonso-esque in that area if you like, but can he continue his developments we'll have the midfield sorted for years. Am really impressed with his eye for the defense-shredding pass and his movement in general. Not so much with his sloopiness at times but Kenny will sort that out I'm sure.

Room for improvement but the signs of a real footballer is there. I really like our Adam.

Why is Charlie Adam nobbing Michael McIntyre dressed up as the Lion from The Wizard of Oz?

She was a contestant on Miss England. I'd say she didn't make it through the early rounds. I reckon I'd get further in a Miss England comp.

Hahaha

Huge fan of the lad now, I was totally open minded when we signed him but have to admit his early Hollywood Adam performances had me tearing my hair out. Perhaps its Kenny's influence or the fact he now trusts the players around him are better than blackpools but he seems to have cut that from his game now. He still makes expansive passes but he picks the time to try it somewhat better.

Don't really get the Xabi comparison to be honest, reminds me more of Gary Macs playing style when he keeps it simple.

The fact is game by game he is showing that he was an absolute bargain and with each game he is proving that he is likely to be the lynch pin to our midfield for many years.

It is only generally people who are critical of him who invoke Xabi. As in, "he's never going to be a Xabi" etc.

I love Charlie's interviews too. He's much smarter than he looks, and he talks like a Liverpool player should- respectful, but with a sense that the club should be kicking ass.

I think he's great, but I did anyway (like Doc Mac did too). He's getting better and better and more settled by the game. An absolute steal, as Vlad said.

Haha, that's what I thought when I saw the picture too.

As for Adam, he is without a doubt the best summer signing we made, great value for money too. I'm a big fan, he's a smart player who is always available to receive the ball, and helps us retain possession in a way which we struggled to do last season. Picks out beautiful killer balls too. Natural leader on the pitch too, I would have given him the captains armband over Reina, personally.

Hmmmm, like Charlie as I do, I think Enrique runs him close Anita on our best summer signing and probably just edges it from a cost perspective

I wrecked myself laughing at this sentence in a way I shouldn't of.

I thought he'd be a decent signing for us, but he's been much better than I expected. There were legitimate doubts about him because he would be asked to do a bit more here than he did at Blackpool, and there was always the risk that he was just a one season wonder given his early years were nothing to write home about.

I bet Fergie is wishing he had made more of a play for him

I thought he was Ace at Blackpool and was always looking forward to him coming and we got him at a bargain price as he's easily a £20m+ Midfielder. I think its silly to compare him to Alonso, he's his own man who contributes just as much as Xabi did at his best. Quality player, good signing.
