Combined Liverpool + Arsenal Team (squad).

A spillover from Brizzle's comment on Arsenal being his favourites based on their squad. Thought I'd take another look and do a head to head.

Starting Team (there can be only one) on current form. I've added a score out of 10 to better evaluate the overall effect on the team. Better player bolded (even if rated level). In both cases (starting team and squad) I've given it 6-5 in our favour.

TBH too close to call one squad better overall as it would depend on whose missing with injury, out of form, away on Int. duty etc.

GK : Ali (over Raya) 9 - 8
RB : Timber (over Bradley) 10 - 7
LB : Calafiori (over Kerkez) 9 - 7
CB (L) : VvD (over Gabriel) 10 - 9
CB (R) : Saliba (over Konate) 9 - 8

DM : Gravy (over Zubimendi) 10 - 7
CM : Rice (over Macca) 9 - 7
CM : Szobo (over Odegaard) 9 - 8

LW : Eze (over Gakpo) 8 - 7
CF : Ekitike (over Gyokeres) 8 - 6
RW : Salah (over Saka) 9 - 8 (Saka doesn't score or assist as much)

LFC 91/100. AFC 91/100

The Leftovers

GK : Mamardashvili (over Kepa) 8 - 6
RB : Frimpong (over White) 7 - 7
LB : Lewis-Skelly (over Robbo) 8 - 7
CB (R) : Mosquera (over Gomez) 8 - 7
CB (L) : Hincapie (over Leoni) 6 - 6 (guess)

DM : Norgaard (over Endo) 6 - 6
CM : Jones (over Nwaneri - square peg) 7 - 7
CM : Wirtz (over Merino) 8 - 7

LW : Rio (over Martinelli) (maybe I'm just a little biased here) 8 - 8
CF : Isak (over Havertz) 9 - 8
RW : Madueke (over Chiesa) 8 - 6

LFC 74/100. AFC 79/100

Additional Squad players not included above :
LFC : Nyoni, Danns
AFC : Trossard, Jesus (not included because he's likely out for the season)

Not a good thread

its about system not player for player

Konate over anyone because he just suits our system - press them, let them try long and our defenders eat it

Woah, a lot of questions springing to mind lol. Firstly, why the hell isn't Isak in the first team?!

But ignoring many more such nitpicks, I'd just go along with the consensus: we've got the better first XI, they've got the stronger bench.

Isak - as I said 'on current form'. He's not fit and Ekitike has 4 goals so far ! I'm sure that'll switch as the season progresses.

Not a fan of these threads. This is one person's opinion.

Most people will disagree with most figures here.

And yet in general 'combined teams' is actually a very popular column filler. And of course it's all about opinions - so is every thread on here, it's a forum !

The only issue with "column fillers", especially nowadays with people on the hunt for clicks; is that nowadays it's mostly ragebait.

Now, with your Rio over martinelli pick, I do now feel baited

Opinions and how else do I keep the comments coming (must feed the algorithm).

Also, Rice over Macca? Has to be based on current form and nothing else. And even then, rice ain't that good.

The first combined team I ever remember was Liverpool/Ipswich, simply because the England 1st team was pretty much made up from the two in the late 70's

Not sure how 'Combined Teams' is weird idea. You've clearly led a sheltered life (or avoid mainstream media) there's one of them on Sky/BBC/both before literally every big game !

No just the "current form" stipulation. Makes it kind of redundant imo.

Not sure I'd agree. I think they're light-weight up front.
Yeah, I thought about that, and I thought it might be possible for Slot to win the league despite his main, out and out forward, being a bloke who scored shitloads in Portugal but looks out of his depth here...
And at least Joker looks like he'll score against the bottom half teams.

I don't look at "form", because I think that's a load of old bollocks personally and besides form will come and go unexpectedly......the last 12 months provide all I need to know so based on that;

Alisson > Raya
Mama > Kepa
Frimpong = Timber
Bradley < White
Ibou < Saliba
Virg > Gabriel
Gomez < Mosquera
Leoni < Hincapie
Kerkez > Calafiori
Robbo = Lewis Skelly
Grav > Zubimendi
Mac = Rice
Wirtz > Odegaard
Endo < Norgaard
Jones < Merino
Szobo > Nwaneri
Salah > Saka
Isak > Gyokeres
Gakpo = Martinelli
Chiesa < Trossard
Ekitike > Havertz
Rio < Madueke
Danns < Jesus

A few are unfair simply because we don't have a big enough squad to go toe to toe and I'm not accounting for talent or future potential in these.

A few surprises there :

Timber is fantastic ! As a defender Frimpong isn't in that class.

Bradley not as good as White as a RB?

Robbo is no way equal to Lewis Skelly now I'm afraid. That's heart over brain.

The Frim is boss, I've yet to see any blips from him defensively....nevermind someone getting the better of him in a game, but I like Timber too so even for me.

White is far more solid defensively, not much more to add there.

I was actually tempted to go Robbo < MLS until I remembered MLS dropped off towards the end of last season. Robbo has been absolutely fucking shite for the last 12 months so no chance in hell has he been better.

How can Robbo be worse than American "socka"? I'd put Ricky Lambert ahead of that, messi or no messi

White more solid than Bradley defensively? Go tell that to Kylian Mbappe.

I think so, more robust and aggressive.

I like his style and how he carries the ball but defensively he's blows too hot and cold, he was iffy against Everton, he was shite when he came on against Atleti. Adingra skipped by him I don't know how many times last season, the same with that Moroccan lad at PSV.
