Gremio - Luiz Felipe Scolari (Head Coach)
BtwTK42CYAAtZ3I.jpg

[article]Luiz Felipe Scolari has been named as coach of Grêmio only three weeks after leading Brazil to their most embarrassing World Cup result, a record-equalling 7-1 defeat against Germany.

“The commander is back,” the club said on their Facebook page. “Felipao is the new coach,” added the Porto Alegre club where Scolari first made his name during the mid-1990s with a successful, but often physical, team.

Scolari, who led Brazil to their fifth World Cup in 2002, officially parted company with the 2014 hosts on 14 July, one day after the end of the competition ended and in which they finished fourth.

He had returned for a second spell as Brazil’s coach in November 2012, saying his team had “a duty” to win a sixth World Cup on home soil. But, despite reaching the semi-finals, they did not cope with the pressure and capitulated to an astonishing 7-1 defeat in Belo Horizonte after conceding five goals in 18 first-half minutes.

It was their worst World Cup defeat and the margin equalled their record 6-0 loss to Uruguay in 1920. Brazil went on to lose 3-0 to Holland in the third-place playoff, another result that would have been unthinkable for them a few days previously. It led to the appointment of Dunga, who had previously coached the national team from 2006-2010, as his successor.

Scolari, who also led Portugal to the Euro 2004 final and a World Cup semi-final in 2006, had a brief spell at Grêmio in 1987 and returned in 1993 for a much more successful four-year spell.

He turned them into one of the most feared and ruthless teams in South America, winning the Libertadores Cup in 1995 and the Brazilian championship the following year.

He will replace Enderson Moreira who was fired on Sunday after his side lost at home to Coritiba in the Brazilian league. Grêmio are currently 10th in the 20-team table with 19 points from 12 games.[/article]

[article]Porto have officially signed defender Jose Angel from Roma on a free transfer.

The 24-year-old, who had spent the last two seasons on loan with Spanish side Real Sociedad, finalised his transfer to the Portuguese giants after signing a four-year contract with them on Tuesday.

According to Roma’s official website, the Giallorossi agreed to send the left-back to Porto for free, but will still receive 50 per cent of any fee paid for the player if he’s sold in the future.

The Dragons also announced that the Spaniard’s contract includes a €30 million release clause.

Jose Angel arrived at Roma from Sporting Gijon in 2011 and provided one assist in his 27 total Serie A appearances for the Italian side.

The defender netted a total of two goals and provided eight assists in his 85 Spanish Primera Division appearances for Real Sociedad since 2012, with one goal and five assists coming in his 22 league appearances last term.[/article]

Hull - Harry Maguire (£2.5 million), Andrew Robertson (£2.85 million)

[article=http://www.hullcitytigers.com/news/article/1415-magure-robertson-double-signing-1789887.aspx#ZOz0r1F9IYdxFoPz.99]Hull City have completed the signings of Andrew Robertson and Harry Maguire from Dundee United and Sheffield United respectively.

Scottish international Robertson arrives for a fee of £2.85m whilst the deal to bring Maguire to the Tigers is worth £2.5m.

Both players have put pen-to-paper on three-year deals, with the Club holding an option to extend their stays by a further year.

The switch to the KC Stadium caps a remarkable rise for 20-year-old left-back Robertson.

At the end of the 2012/13 campaign, he was on a part-time contract with Queens Park in Scotland’s third tier before Dundee United spotted his potential.

He arrived at Tannadice in the summer of 2013 where he quickly earned a reputation as one of Scottish football's brightest prospects.

In his first season as a Dundee United player, Robertson made 44 appearances in all competitions, scoring five goals. His impressive performances saw him named the PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year as well as also being selected in the PFA Scotland Team of the Year for the 2013/14 Scottish Premiership.

He made his international debut for Scotland coming on as a second half substitute in a 1-0 win against Poland in March 2014, before being handed his first start in a 2-2 draw with Nigeria in May.

Maguire meanwhile has been a stalwart of the Sheffield United defence for the past three seasons having progressed through the youth ranks at Bramall Lane.

He made his debut at the back end of the 2010/11 campaign against Cardiff City and quickly cemented his place in the first team.

His performances and consistency at the back in a Sheffield United shirt saw him named as the Blades’ Player of the Year in each of the last three campaigns, whilst last season also saw the highly-rated 21-year-old pick up the club’s Players' Player of the Year, Supporters’ Player of the Year and The Sheffield Star's Player of the Year awards.

In total, Maguire made 166 appearances in all competitions as a Sheffield United player, scoring 12 goals and has also been capped once at England Under-21 level, coming on as a second half substitute in a 2-0 win against Northern Ireland in November 2012.[/article]

Southampton - Ryan Bertrand (loan)

[article=http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/article/30072014-statement-ryan-bertrand-joins-on-loan-1794098.aspx#0bBvdxituJmv2JA1.99]Southampton Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Ryan Bertrand from Chelsea.

The 24 year-old joins on a season-long loan deal from the west London side.

Chief Executive Officer Gareth Rogers commented: “Ryan is a young, attacking full-back and will fit in perfectly with the club’s philosophy and style of play.

“This is another important step forward in terms of rebuilding our first-team squad with exciting English talent at its core.”

First Team Manager Ronald Koeman said: “I’m very happy to be able to bring Ryan in.

“I spoke to him on Monday afternoon and I was very impressed with his attitude and how keen he was to play games for Southampton.

“He is a top player who will bring a lot of quality to the team. He has experience at the highest level and is an exciting, attacking player, which is what I like to see in my full-backs.

“I’ve been very impressed with how Matt Targett is doing in pre-season, but he is still young and developing, which I am sure he will continue to do over the coming seasons.

“Left-back is an important position in the team because it is quite specialised in terms of the attributes needed to play there, so it is nice to get this signing completed because it gives us some stability.”

Bertrand added: “For me personally, this is another chance to play and a chance to join a fantastic club that’s moving in the right direction.

“With the set-up the club’s got, the manager it has coming in and the ethos it has, I thought this was a perfect match.

“The manager’s name speaks for itself, so to play under somebody like that will be good for me. His ethos and the way he plays matches my game.

“I had a lot of options and a lot of interest but, having met the people and spoken to the manager and seen what the club is about, in my mind this was the perfect decision.

“I’m looking to get games and to play regularly in the way and the formation that I like, and I’m sure that will benefit my game. I still think the best is yet to come from me.”[/article]

[article=http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/dier-move-agreed-310714/]We are delighted to announce that we have reached agreement with Sporting Lisbon for the transfer of Eric Dier, subject to the player passing a medical.

The versatile England Under-21 defender came through the ranks at the Primeira Liga side and has gone on to make a total of 30 appearances in their First Team.[/article]

[article]"Sporting Clube de Portugal announces that during [July] the club started negotiations with Eric Dier over the renewal of his contract," read the statement.

"Unexpectedly, Sporting, SAD was confronted by the player's father and official representative with a bid from Tottenham Hotspur, with that bid activating a clause agreed by previous boards of directors for the sale of the player for an amount of €5million or more, unless the personal terms offered as part of the bid are matched.

"Due to the club's current salary policy, the respective balance within the squad and the on-going financial restructuring underway at the club, it was not possible to match the proposed terms.

"Furthermore, Sporting, SAD was also informed that the player did not want to remain with the club even on equal terms and that any equal or improved personal terms would not have been accepted.

"In light of the above, Sporting, SAD announces the complete sale of the economic rights of the player Eric Dier to Tottenham Hotspur for €5milion, without any future rights relative to the player.

"Despite the above mentioned events, Sporting, SAD wishes Eric Dier all the best in his career."[/article]

West Ham - Carl Jenkinson (loan)
0,,12562~13004263,00.jpg

[article=http://www.whufc.com/articles/20140731/hammers-loan-jenkinson_2236884_4045097]West Ham United are delighted to announce the arrival of defender Carl Jenkinson on a season-long loan from Arsenal.

The 22-year-old right-back, who has been capped at senior level by England, opted to join the Hammers after the Club beat off competition from several of their Barclays Premier League rivals to secure his services.

Jenkinson said he had no hesitation about moving to the Boleyn Ground as soon as he heard West Ham were interested in bringing him to east London, thanking Joint-Chairmen David Sullivan and David Gold and manger Sam Allardyce for the opportunity.

"It's brilliant how it has turned out and I just want to thank the Gaffer and Mr Sullivan and Mr Gold because they put in a big push to get me here," said the defender. "I'm clearly seen as a big part of things here and hopefully I can prove my worth here because it is an important year for me.

"I was flattered to have a lot of options but, deep down, if I was being honest with myself West Ham was always the place I wanted to go to. It's one of them where I wanted to do the right professional thing and consider all the options, but in the back of my mind it was always West Ham and I'm just so glad it's all worked out how I wanted it to in the end.

"It will be brilliant to play here. I've got a lot of friends who are West Ham fans and I know how good the supporters are here. I've played here a couple of times so I know exactly what it is all about, so it's going to be fantastic to be a part of that, to be honest. You get a great atmosphere here and the fans are great, so I just can't wait to get a West Ham shirt on and get on the pitch and play. This is an exciting time for me, it really is."

The Harlow-born player becomes West Ham's sixth summer signing, following the arrival of Argentine forward Mauro Zarate, Ecuador FIFA World Cup striker Enner Valencia, Senegal defensive midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate, left-back Aaron Cresswell and midfielder Diego Poyet.

With the Olympic Stadium move to look forward to in 2016, Jenkinson believes the Hammers are a Club on the up.

"To be honest, that was a big swing in this for me, seeing this Club is going in the right direction," he continued. "Obviously the stadium plans are only a couple of years away and that's going to improve this Club massively. Of course it's only a loan deal, but this Club is going in the right direction.

"We've signed six players and they are top players as well. It's a very exciting time to be a part of this Club. There is an English group of lads here, which is always great for an English lad, and the players who have been brought in are top-drawer, so there is every reason to be optimistic about this season. That was a big reason I signed here."

Jenkinson began his career at Charlton Athletic, where he enjoyed a fantastic 2010/11 season before being snapped up by Arsenal at the age of 19 in June 2011.

He was given an early chance to impress at the Emirates Stadium, making his competitive debut in a UEFA Champions League qualifier against Udinese in August 2011, and has totalled 57 first-team appearances for the Gunners.

Jenkinson has made 37 appearances in the Premier League for Arsenal, scoring his first goal in senior football in a 2-0 victory over Norwich City on the final day of last season.

He has also played 12 times in the Champions League, helping the north London side reach the Round of 16 in each of the last two campaigns.

Internationally, Jenkinson played at age-group level both for England and Finland - the country of his mother's birth. However, in 2012 he decided to commit his international future for England and made his debut for Roy Hodgson's side in a friendly defeat to Sweden in Stockholm that November.
He has since been capped five times by England U21s, having previously turned out three times for Finaland at the same level in 2011.

Jenkinson will join up with his new team-mates on Friday before travelling with the squad to the Schalke 04 Cup tournament in Germany this weekend.[/article]

“I’m quite old school as a player, I just want to be part of a good group of players, working for a good manager, working really hard and driving something in the right direction,” he added.

“All the people I spoke to told me that’s what’s going on at Crystal Palace and I really wanted to be a part of that.

“It’s a traditional club with a big following. I thought the atmosphere here was fantastic and obviously the fans had a lot to be happy about come the end of the season.

“If we can do something similar to that this season, that would be great. I’m really looking forward to playing in front of those fans as soon as possible.”

Hangeland, 33, has made an instant return to the Barclays Premier League having departed Fulham in the summer following their relegation from the top flight.

During his six-and-a-half years with the Cottagers he racked up more than 270 appearances for the club, which included playing the full 120 minutes of the extra time defeat to Atletico Madrid in the 2010 Europa League Final.

Before being brought to London by now-England boss Roy Hodgson in January 2008, Hangeland lifted the Norwegian Cup with his first professional club, Viking FK, before winning back-to-back Danish Superliga titles at FC Copenhagen.

[article]France midfielder Mathieu Valbuena has joined Dynamo Moscow on a three-year contract from Olympique Marseille, the Russian Premier League club said on Saturday.

French media said the 29-year-old, who played at this year's World Cup in Brazil, cost seven million euros ($9.40 million) and would be paid 10 million euros in total over three years.

Valbuena had attracted interest from a host of European clubs including AC Milan, Atletico Madrid, Valencia, Sevilla, West Ham United and Queens Park Rangers.

Valbuena joined Marseille in 2006 from French third tier side Libourne and won the Ligue 1 title in 2009/10.

He has played 38 matches for the French national team, scoring six goals and helped his country reach the World Cup quarter-finals in Brazil.

"I like the Premier League and when I knew that Newcastle were interested in me, it was a very easy decision to make.

BuTqSA4IUAEu6f4.jpg

[article=http://www.fourfourtwo.com/news/van-wolfswinkel-joins-saint-etienne-loan#O6hUsSYKheqgX2st.99]Norwich City striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel has joined Ligue 1 outfit Saint-Etienne on a season-long loan.

The Dutchman arrived at Carrow Road for a reported £8.5 millon from Sporting at the beginning of last season, but failed to live up to the price tag as he netted just once in 25 Premier League appearances.

And, following the club's relegation, Norwich have decided to offload Van Wolfswinkel for the duration of the 2014-15 campaign.

"I am very happy, I really wanted to sign here," the 26-year-old told Saint-Etienne's official website. "The management, the coach, the people who work at the club have given me reason to want to join Saint-Etienne.

"I was able to talk with the coach and I look forward to working with him.

"Saint-Etienne are one of the largest French clubs.

"Last year, the coach and the team achieved very good results. Finishing fourth in the championship of France is not easy.

"My goal is to work hard for the team and to be important for the club."

Norwich manager Neil Adams added: "I can't speak highly enough about how professional Ricky has been even though he had a difficult first season at the Club.

"His attitude has been first class, and this move represents an opportunity for him to play regularly and get back to scoring goals in the way he has done in the past. We wish him the best of luck." [/article]

After beginning his career with Toulouse, France-born Constant featured for Chateauroux, Chievo and Genoa before arriving at Milan in 2012.

[article=http://www.canaries.co.uk/news/article/20140805-gary-oneil-signs-1806121.aspx]GARY O’Neil has completed his move to Norwich City, signing a two-year deal.

The experienced midfielder was released by Queens Park Rangers in the summer so moves to Carrow Road on a free transfer subject to the completion of paperwork.

O’Neil, 31, has linked up with Neil Adams’ squad but he is to serve a one-match suspension after picking up the first red card of his career in last year’s Sky Bet Championship Play-Off Final against Derby County, making him unavailable for Sunday’s opener against Wolves.

“I’m really pleased. I trained with the lads this morning and I’m just ready to get going now,” he told Norwich City TV.

“It’s a good club that has still got loads of good players, so hopefully we’ll have a good year. They’re keen to get back to the Premier League, they have fantastic support and everyone I’ve spoken to has said what a great club it is and what a great area it is to live.

“I’ll get to Wolves to watch the lads and it’s important that we hit the ground running.”

Adams added: “Gary’s a very experienced player. He’s featured in the Premier League and Championship all his career and he can play in a number of roles through the midfield.

“He was with QPR when they achieved promotion to the Premier League, so he’s the precisely the sort of player needed.

"The other players have been really impressed with how he’s applied himself in the three or four training sessions he’s had with us so far.”

O’Neil started his playing days at Portsmouth, where he made his debut as a 16-year-old in 2000 and went on to make 192 appearances before signing for Middlesbrough in the summer of 2007.

A move to West Ham United came in 2011 and he helped the Hammers to promotion at the end of his first season, featuring in their 2-1 Play-Off Final victory over Blackpool.

The former England Under-21 international was reunited with his former Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp at Queens Park Rangers a year ago and featured 33 times in all competitions, scoring once. [/article]

[article]FK Vojvodina have confirmed a deal has been finalised with Manchester United for Vanja Milinkovic.

Club president Zoran Scepanovic addressed a press conference to announce the details of the transfer of the 17-year-old goalkeeper.

"After lengthy talks that have taken place over the past month, we have finally completed negotiations on Monday and we can officially inform the public that our young and promising goalkeeper has joined Manchester United," said Scepanovic.

"He will remain in Vojvodina for the next year, where he will be under the supervision of our experts and coaches from the English football giants, while continuing to train and perform in the jersey of his home club. This is an opportunity to thank everyone who participated in the realisation of this transfer. Can I point out Manchester United's very correct attitude."

The Reds announced in May that a move had been agreed and the teenager would be loaned back to his current side before arriving in Manchester after the Serbian season.

Although he only turned 17 in February, the 6ft 7in keeper is an Under-19 international for his country, along with his brother Sergej.[/article]
