The deal is subject to the player’s passing a successful medical over the coming days.

The 19 year-old has played 55 games for Racing and has been used as both an attacking midfielder and forward. Valencia CF General Sporting Manager, Francisco Joaquín Pérez 'Rufete', wished to praise the signing on ‘valenciacf.com’: "Rodrigo de Paul is a player who has proved himself in Argentina, captaining his side despite his youth. He has talent and a great maturity to his play. We believe that Rodrigo has everything it takes to be a success at Valencia CF and in European football.”

VCF Manager, Juan Antonio Pizzi, added to ‘valenciacf.com’ that "Rodrigo is the player with the biggest impact to come out of Argentina in the last five years. This is great news for Valencia CF.”

Valencia CF will provide further information about the arrival of Rodrigo de Paul, his medical and the date of his presentation over the coming days.[/article][article=http://en.valenciacf.com/ver/35945/rodrigo-de-paul-%80%9Ci%80m-going-to-valencia-to-add-to-the-team-and-help-fight-for-every-possible-trophy.html]Rodrigo de Paul (Sarandi (Avellaneda-Buenos Aires) / 24th May, 1994) has only words of praise for the club that will be his new home from next season. Speaking to valenciacf.com, the Argentine midfielder said that "I’m coming to a big club came to a big club that always fights for every domestic and European honours going. I know where I’m heading and how much I have to work to be part of one of the best teams in Spain. I can only say that I will do everything possible to repay the confidence placed in me already."

The current captain of Racing de Avellaneda stressed the importance Valencia CF playing legend-turned club ambassador Roberto Fabián Ayala had in his signing. "The first news of any interest from Valencia CF came through Fabián. He told me that he wanted to take me to the club, told me his ideas for the present and future and that I was part of those plans. I felt very proud and that was when I told my agent to stop negotiations with Udinese, who were also interested in me. In addition, the manager is Juan Antonio Pizzi, whom I know well from Argentina and his brilliant spell at San Lorenzo de Almagro. They was league champions under him and that means that he is a very good coach."

Ayala was previously Racing’s sporting director, and brought De Paul into the first team there. "Now that everything is finalised and the clubs have reached an agreement, I’m just thinking about finishing the season in the best way possible here with my current team. Then I will rest up in order to be on top form at the start of the season in Valencia. My goal is to work harder than anyone, so that the manager knows he can count on me. Then I’ll give everything I have."

Valencia CF has always been a club at which Rodrigo’s compatriots have enjoyed success.

"Who doesn’t know about Kempes, Ayala, Claudio López, Aimar, Kily and all the other Argentinians who have worn the shirt at the highest level? They are very important players who have made history and are idols for the fans at Mestalla. I would love to make a space of my own in the fans’ hearts, but before that I need to work hard and do a good job.”

Rodrigo hopes that this new stage of his career in Spain is "beautiful and successful. I will take it with the seriousness that Valencia CF deserve. If we are able to form a good group, then we will also will be able to fight for La Liga and whatever else comes. This year has not been so good for the club, but they were still about to get into a European final. That's why next year we need to double our efforts to reverse this situation and make the fans enjoy the team and our objectives."

From afar he has been told about the fanbase at his new club. "Fabian has already told me that they are very passionate, that they get behind the the players and stick with the club through the good and the bad. In many games their support is key because they become a twelfth man. I realise that this resembles the Racing support, backing the side to the fullest. Hopefully we will be able to make them proud of us they will be encouraging us at every home game."

The young star dislikes describing himself as a player, but in Argentina wonders are spoken of his play. "I'm glad that they speak well of me, but it is not for me to comment. I always try to perform at the highest level, to help my teammates and to be useful to the manager. The most important thing is the group, that Valencia CF are a team and that I try to form part of that group to achieve every success possible."

Finally, Rodrigo de Paul told valenciacf.com that "I'm coming to Valencia to add to the team, with the intention of fighting for trophies. I’m eager to undertake a new challenge in my career and, above all, to do it at as big a club as Valencia CF."[/article]

Hertha Berlin - Jens Hegeler
okyWJ.jpg

[article=http://www.bayer04.de/B04-ENG/en/_md_aktuell-dt.aspx?aktuell=aktuell-5017]Hertha Berlin have completed the signing of versatile midfielder Jens Hegeler from Bayer Leverkusen.

The 26-year-old arrived at the BayArena as a youth prospect before securing a first-team place via loan spells at Augsburg and Nuremberg.

However, this term he has started just six Bundesliga matches and will move to the capital on a three-year deal at the end of the campaign.

His only goal of the season came in the UEFA Champions League against Real Sociedad as he scored in a 2-1 victory, and Hertha head coach Jos Luhukay was pleased to bring in such a versatile player.

"Jens Hegeler is an excellent, very flexible, midfielder, who will be an excellent fit for our team. I am very glad that we have managed to bring him to Hertha," he told the club's official website.

"For us it is important that we have multi-functional players, who make us better qualitatively.

"He is a player that can be used in several positions - regardless of whether this is in defence, in central midfield, on the wing or even a little further forward in midfield."

Hertha have enjoyed a solid if unremarkable campaign back in the top flight and could yet secure a top-half finish with a point over Borussia Dortmund in the final week.

Despite Leverkusen having guaranteed European football next term, Hegeler was delighted to be offered a new challenge with Hertha.

"I am looking forward to the new challenge," he said.

"I wanted to go to Berlin because I am sure that Hertha has great potential. Also, the fans in Berlin are great, as is the atmosphere in the Olympic Stadium."[/article]

Never heard of him but for $6.5million it sounds like a good deal

I'm furious we weren't in for him!

Leverkusen - Wendell (reportedly €5.5 million)
wendell102_v-gseapremiumxl.jpg

[article=http://www.bayer04.de/b04-eng/en/_site_index.aspx]Bayer 04 have signed the Brazilian left back Wendell Nascimento Borges – known as Wendell – from Gremio Porto Alegre for the start of next season. The 20-year-old left-footed defender (1.76 metres, 64 kilos) has agreed a five-year deal to 30 June 2019.

"Wendell is a very talented player who play can help strengthen our squad. We're convinced he can continue the tradition of top Brazilian players at Bayer 04 Leverkusen," declared Bayer 04 sporting director Rudi Völler, who watched the 20-year-old play on Tuesday in Brazil, accompanied by assistant coach Daniel Niedzkowski and before the contact was signed, in a 3-0 win against Atletico Nacional (Columbia) in the Copa Libertadores – the Latin-American equivalent of the Champions League.

"The signing of Wendell is an important transfer for Bayer 04 Leverkusen as part of our long-term strategy. We always said we want to strengthen our squad in a targeted manner. Wendell exactly suits our plans and we have already completed the deal using a buy-out clause that was due to run out on Saturday," said Bayer 04 managing director Michael Schade in commenting on the agreed deal with the 20-year-old.

Wendell sees the move to Bayer 04 Leverkusen as the logical next step in his career: “Bayer 04 has an excellent reputation in Brazil after the large number of signings in the past. I also had a long talk with my team captain Zé Roberto who played for Bayer 04 for years. He advised me to make the move as he raved about his time at Leverkusen.[/article]
Leverkusen - Josip Drmic (reportedly €5 million)
m_Drmic_close.jpg

[article=http://www.bayer04.de/b04-eng/en/_site_index.aspx]Bayer 04 have completed the second transfer for the coming Bundesliga campaign following the signing of the Brazilian left-back Wendell. The Werkself have secured the services of the Switzerland international Josip Drmic from FC Nürnberg. The striker, who scored 17 goals for FCN this season, has signed a contract to 30 June 2019.

“We have laid down a clear marker for our future approach,” declared Bayer 04 CEO Michael Schade. “Josip Drmic has shown his extra quality over the course of the Bundesliga campaign and he is one of the top strikers in the Bundesliga. We’ve brought him in to significantly increase our attacking capability and equip the team to have another go at the Champions League.”

And Bayer 04 sporting director Rudi Völler was very happy with the transfer of the 21-year-old Drmic to Leverkusen: “We won out against serious competition and are happy that Josip Drmic has opted to take up a long-term deal with us. A player like him gives us additional options up front. He’s quick, strong and can play on either wing as well as in the middle. Josip is a top player who really fits in with our ambitions.”

“To play at the top with Bayer 04”

After Drmic was unable to prevent the relegation of FC Nürnberg with his goals, the 1.81 metre right footer has set himself bigger targets at Bayer 04 Leverkusen: “It’s a real shame I had to leave FCN under these circumstances. I had a great time there in spite of the sorry end to the season. But now I want to play at the top of the Bundesliga and get through to the group stages of the Champions League in the play-offs in August. It’s a dream for every football pro. Leverkusen are a great team and they convinced me over a number of meetings that I’ve made exactly the right decision by coming here,” explained Drmic.[/article]

Napoli - Mariano Andújar (€1.5 million, co-ownership)
BfGLb8cIEAACVpz.jpg

[article]Catania goalkeeper Mariano Andujar has expressed his delight at having secured a move to Napoli.

The 30-year-old Argentine international recently transferred from the Elefanti for a fee of €1.5 million, penning a three and a half year contract at the Stadio San Paolo, but will spend the remainder of the 2013-14 campaign on loan with the Rossazzurri.

“It’s a forward step in my career, I’m happy,” he told Tycsports.com.

“I already knew about the interest from Napoli, even when it was not being talked about.

“If a club as important as that has chosen me, it means I have done something right in my career.

“It’s not easy arriving at an important club like Napoli, but now I have to remain focused on Catania, as we are going through a difficult time.”

Andujar hasn’t played for the Sicilians since the 4-1 Coppa Italia defeat against Serie B side Siena, with newly instated Coach Rolando Maran preferring to field Alberto Frison between the sticks.

“Unfortunately, I’m not the first choice at the moment, and this situation is happening in a World Cup year, after many seasons as a starter.

“However, I’ll continue to train and give everything to get my place back in the side, also because I don’t want to lose my spot in the [Argentinian] national team.”

Andujar has spent the last five campaigns with the Etnei and has appeared 135 times for the club since signing from Estudiantes in 2009.[/article]

So does that mean Pepe isn't going to stay at Napoli @King Binny

The Andujar signing was sealed in Jan. Napoli's Sporting Director insisted last week that they still want to keep Reina.
[article=http://www.football-italia.net/48838/%E2%80%98napoli-want-keep-reina%E2%80%99]Napoli’s sporting director Riccardo Bigon has admitted that the club do intend to try and keep hold of Pepe Reina beyond this season.

The Spaniard is approaching the end of his year-long loan at the San Paolo before he is due to return to Anfield to negotiate with Liverpool his future.

Amid continued links with Barcelona, Napoli have hinted recently of their desire to reach a permanent deal for Reina, which their sporting director has this week now confirmed.

“He is a very important player on and off the field,” Bigon has reflected on In Casa Napoli this week.

“We cannot do anything but wait for the end of the season to talk with him and with Liverpool. The club is interested in keeping him.

“He is a player who has been good here, that has a very close relationship with the Coach and also his family have settled very well.

“And there is Mariano Andujar, who is another good goalkeeper.

“And Rafael? His was a purchase that could represent our goalkeeper for the coming years.

“Together with the Coach, however, we thought that the presence of Reina was important for the Brazilian to better acclimatise.

“He is returning from treatment in Brazil now, we will see what will happen in the market. He is still a very good goalkeeper who has have a very good season.”[/article]

West Brom - Terry Burton (Technical Director)

[article=http://www.wba.co.uk/news/article/burton-rejoins-baggies-as-technical-director-1550419.aspx#ATTMc1VjEM1IK5yU.99]ALBION are delighted to announce the appointment of Terry Burton as Technical Director.

The 61-year-old will leave his current post as Arsenal’s Head of Youth Coaching and officially rejoin the Club on June 1.

Burton’s arrival forms part of a realignment of duties. He will work alongside Richard Garlick, who has operated as Sporting & Technical Director for the past 14 months and will now continue as Director of Football Administration.

Burton enjoyed a successful four-month spell as First-Team Coach under now-England Manager Roy Hodgson at The Hawthorns during the 2011/12 season.

He will play an integral role in the search for a new Head Coach to succeed Pepe Mel and the signing of new players.

Chairman Jeremy Peace said: “It’s great to welcome Terry back to the Club. His knowledge and experience of the game is second to none.

“Terry made a lasting impression during his time here two seasons ago and comes highly-recommended for his new role.

“Richard has worked tirelessly as Sporting & Technical Director and remains a key member of the Board.

“However, with the responsibilities of the position becoming increasingly wide-ranging, we felt it would be wise to split the role.

“The appointment of Terry, who has vast experience of coaching, developing young players and identifying talent, can only strengthen the Club.”

Burton said: “I really enjoyed my previous spell at Albion and I’m delighted to be coming back.

“It’s a terrific football club and this is a new, exciting chapter in my career.”

The First Team and Academy set-ups will report into Burton. Garlick will retain responsibility for all football administration duties, including co-ordinating and supporting the Scouting/Recruitment and Performance/Medical staff and overseeing regulatory matters.

Burton will work with the Coaching and Recruitment staff in identifying the type and calibre of players that will improve the squad.

He will also join Garlick, the rest of the Board and the new Head Coach in the decision-making process regarding the signing of new players.

Peace added: “Terry knows the Club well from his previous time here and we believe he can provide invaluable assistance to the Board and Coaching staff on all footballing matters.”

Burton turned to coaching while playing non-league football, after being released by Arsenal aged 19.

By 24, he was named Gunners youth-team boss and five years later took the step up to first-team Coach at Highbury, working under manager Don Howe in the mid-80s. He proved instrumental in bringing through the hugely-successful generation of players that included Tony Adams, David Rocastle, Michael Thomas, Paul Merson and Martin Keown.

A change of manager saw the arrival of George Graham and, after a year working as reserve-team boss under the Scot, Burton left Arsenal in the summer of 1987.

Within 12 months he was appointed as Wimbledon's youth-team coach, revamping the set-up before stepping up to become Joe Kinnear's assistant in 1992.

After a year working under Egil Olsen, Burton was handed the managerial reins in 2000. With the club in crisis, Wimbledon were forced to sell their best players – but he still guided his young team to the fringes of the play-offs in his two seasons in charge.

In 2002, he was appointed assistant manager to Ray Lewington at Watford and during the 2004/05 season he moved to Cardiff as No.2 to Dave Jones. He was credited for bringing current Arsenal star Aaron Ramsey through the Bluebirds ranks.

Burton left City in the summer of 2011 and started the following season as a scout for Arsenal before joining the Baggies in December.

Four months later, after helping Hodgson cement Albion’s place in the Premier League, he was released from his short-term contract to enable him to join Sheffield Wednesday as assistant manager, where he helped steer the South Yorkshire side to promotion to the Championship.

He returned to Arsenal in July 2012, where he has remained in his current role, bossing the Under-21s and the Gunners team that participated in the NextGen Series, the elite European Under-19s competition.[/article]
